Sarah Smith, daughter of Abner C. Smith and Sarah Mott, born June 1, 1826 in Portage County, Ohio married Jacob Plantz (Plants) on December 8, 1844. Jacob was born in Heidleberg Township, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1817. The Plantz family lived in the Bradner, Ohio area. Sarah died on February 26, 1894 and is buried in the Bradner Cemetery. Jacob died on August 7, 1902 in Bradner, Ohio.

Emanuel Plantz born about 1840 mustered in to Company I 72nd Ohio Infantry at Greensburg, Ohio on October 14, 1861 at the age of twenty one and died on April 8, 1862 at the Battle of Shiloh.
