BOLIVIA
Chiles !!!! ... a spicy taste of Bolivia
Potosi was the richest town in the Colonial "New World" .. El Cerro Rico gave everything to the Spanish, especially Silver and millions of indigenous lives.
The miners are still working in a very poor condition as before ...  this is the life of the future generations.
The reality of the Silver Mines in Potosi is in one of my
stories ...
a sad reality!
Collas - the indigenous people of Bolivia- with their long plaits,  a bowler hat and their voluminous skirts .. are the most beautiful people I've ever seen. They are "The people of the pure soul" .. as I like to called them ....
The highest capital in the world is La Paz. It could be a problem if you are suffering of altitude sickness called by the Bolivians as La Puna. Otherwise, is a lovely city to walk around and visit the Markets, especially "El Mercado de Hechiceria" (The Witches Market).
72 km west from La Paz is the archaeological site of Tiahuanaco.
(600 BC-1100AC) .. Little is known about this culture as their legacy was lost. Nobody knows about how and why they dissapear.
Their stone work is so perfect, that they are considered as the ancestors of the Incas.
Bolivia and Peru share the Lake Titicaca ... The Incas believe that this was the birth place of the Sun.  Their first ancestor called Viracocha came from this lake, and he gave to the people all their knowledge and wisdom. The Islands of the lake in the Bolivian side are called Sun and Moon.
