Local MIDI files load directly from your computer for inspection and playback.
This web player only has a small sample bank available, so imported MIDI files may need their track mapping adjusted to sound better here. MIDI files are instructions for instruments to play or trigger events, not full audio recordings, so an external song will not sound exactly like its original playback unless it used the same instruments, note ranges, and sample set.
For the melodic sounds here, this player is usually pitch-shifting a single recorded note, such as one bass, strings, or pad sample, across many MIDI note values rather than loading a full multi-sample instrument bank.
GM is the base 128-program standard. GS and XG usually keep those base meanings and extend them. Game / chip heuristic keeps the same numbers, but leans the automatic remapping toward console-style MIDI conversions.
