| Photo by Steve Engle Tuesday, January 17th, 2006 - Journal Entry Out here, I am surrounded by life in its purest form, its natural state. I can see patterns in the desert, in the woods, in the fields; patterns of life. Nature knows nothing of air-conditioning, microwaves or cell phones and it cares nothing for them. Can we forget what life was like without these necessities? I wish, in a way, that we could learn to separate ourselves from these appliances on which we have become so dependent. Perhaps we can for a moment in time by looking at the natural world around us. Can we, a sin-stained people, learn to live once again in unison with perfect nature? I doubt it, but if we can learn to escape our synthetic surroundings for even thirty minutes everyday, then perhaps there is still hope for mankind to truly forget how to live. |
