Yes, this is me head-butting the giant ram skull discovered on one of our day hikes through the mountainous ridges of the Nevada Mojave Desert during Winter Term (January 2008). As a co-leader on this excursion, my class (RMTO 271 - Outdoor Leadership Fieldwork) got the opportunity to lead English students on a quest for "Writing the Environment" down the Colorado River in Nevada and Arizona. This was an unforgettable experience as we had to plan the logistics of the trip a semester beforehand, study specific areas to present as interpretive pieces to the group, teach the basic skills of canoeing, and navigate down the Colorado River. Having four co-leaders, we each worked together mastering specific areas of our own to develop our understanding of leadership. |
