This program allows students such as Tim Powell (shown above left) the chance to demonstrate outdoor survival skills to peers. Additionally, participating in the Woods Guide Training has opened up multiple opportunities for students to lead in other areas besides outdoor education. 2007 Woods Guide Larissa Fowler notes that her Woods guide experience helped her "learn a lot about myself...because it forced me to work with peers that had little or no backpacking experience. I [also] learned patience and that instead of doing it yourself, you need to show others how to do it." Larissa also attributes other leadership experiences around campus to her Woods experience as she is now the President of her sorority. |
