A flexible vessel that could fulfill a number of roles in a conflict, the chuun m'arh frigate was a worthy addition to the Yuuzhan Vong fleet.

Created from living yorik coral, the chuun m'arh was a vessel in comparison with a New Republic escort frigate or the Imperial Lancer frigate. The chuun m'arh was actually larger than either of those vessels, and possessed more powerful weaponry. The Yuuzhan Vong frigate was armed with thirty plasma cannons, and also featured the standard dovin basals - used to propel the craft, but also to shield the vessel and strip enemy defences in the heat of battle.

The chuun m'arh frigate was adaptable during combat, able to take on various mission profiles. Primarily an assault vessel, the frigate was also used to escort other ships, perhaps ones with less manoeuverability than the frigate. The chuun m'arh could provide battle support to wounded vessels, or could avoid battles all together to become a long-range reconnaissance ship. Despite its strengths, it was believed the chuun m'arh could not use its dovin basals to generate an effective interdiction field - though it often allowed larger ships to do this, while concentrating on destroying enemy forces.

As the chuun m'arh was designed with a number of roles in mind, its size varied from ship to ship. Each frigate could be anywhere between two hundred and five hundred metres long - though most were around four hundred. Those frigates used as cargo transports or troop transports often carried boarding skiffs within. Each skiff was capable of carrying one hundred troops, either to the surface of a planet or inside a crippled starship. Five chuun m'arh frigates were deployed during the Battle of Ord Mantell.
