| Description |
Make 5 different boomerangs that work from Cardboard |
| Setup and Resources |
Requires:
- Cardboard
- Pens to trace
- Scissors
- Paints etc to decorate
|
| Make |
Copy one of these shapes onto cardboard for a stencil, trace around and cut out. Shape 1 can use thinner cardboard but shapes 2 and 3 require thicker cardboard.
For Shapes 1-2-3:
- Fold a flap along the dotted line - make the fold neat and sharp.
- Rest the boomerang on the tips of your fingers and flick with a paddle-pop stick. It should fly in a loop and return to you.
For Shapes 4, 5
- Best launched from a book larger than the boomerang. These should also loop and return.
|
| Problems |
- spinning without returning - flap not large enough or cardboard too thick
- tumbling in flight - flap bent wrong way or boomerang not flicked hard enough
- Spins too slowly and falls - card too heavy
