My name is Phiroze Reporter. My wife, Gool, and I were on the staff of Karimjee Secondary School. I started teaching Mathematics and Science in 1950. I was still a bachelor then. In 1956 I went to Bombay, my birth place, and got married. My wife also started teaching at the school when we returned to Tanga. She taught French and English. In the late1960's we emigrated to Canada, starting our humble beginnings in a small place called Luseland in the province of Saskatchewan.We then moved to a warmer place in British Columbia.We both taught our favourite subjects at Merritt Secondary until our retirement in 1995. We are now settled in Burnaby,BC,Canada.
I understand many Tangaites (if I may coin a word!) are here in Vancouver, BC. We have met a few but not all. One may perhaps remember Mehboob Alladina, who we accidentally came across, right here in Burnaby.

I am writing you in the hope that you can help me in the search of a friend, Amir Ali Rawji.
The Rawji's live/lived in Usumbura, which was at that time under Belgian colonial mandate.
Back in the period around 1950, Ali Rawji had a business relationship with my father, who was importing/exporting goods between Europe and Africa.
Around that time Mr. Rawji sent his son Amir Ali to Belgium, where he attended a French speaking boarding school in Antwerp.
On weekends and holidays Amir was with us and we were like brothers.  Among the highlights I remember that Amir went to see His Holy Highness Aga Khan with my mother.
Later Ali Rawji ordered my father to arrange for the donation of superb ivory cusps to HHH Aga Khan.
Unfortunately, after Amir went back to his father, the contact was lost.
I often think of Amir.
If the name of this Rawji family is known to anybody in your community, please contact me.
I live presently in Japan as a retired geologist.

My name is Tajdin Esmail and I am trying to look for a classmate of mine that attended the Karimjee Secondary School in Tanga, Tanzania in 1962-63.  His name is Mahesh Pandya and he is originally from Tabora, Tanzania.  While attending the Karimjee school Mr. Mahesh Pandya was a boarder of one of the teachers at the school, by the name of Mr. Pandya (I believe it was C.C. pandya).
