2001 information:

Occupation: Naval Officer with the Department of Defense Inspector General's Office in Washington, DC
Spouse: Susan Ross

Still in the Navy but not by much. I'm retiring this fall to do something else, probably defense-related program management. Remaining in the DC area - but we moved out of our old house into a bigger one in Fairfax Station. Married to Susan for 20 years (and boy was that one expensive anniversary! - just kidding dear). Five kids - Michael (18), Elizabeth (16), Emily (12), Katherine (10), and William (8). They keep me young, or is it delerious?

My parents moved to Parma (Parma ?!?!) so I don't see Maple Heights much. The kids don't want to see any more of it, but Susie and I think the Italian bakery on Lee Road near Mapletown is still worth a stop. You know, it's across the street from the old library, which isn't a library anymore. And from where the Music Manor used to be before it moved to Broadway. And the bowling alley. You know.

Since the 89 reunion I went on to command a nuclear submarine, which was a real career highlight. For the last few years I have (gulp) and arms control inspector. At my agency, I run a branch that sends inspection and audit teams into the former Soviet Union to verify treaty compliance and proper use of assistance we provide to those governments in eliminating weapons of mass destruction and what a mouthful that was wasn't it? Lots of trips to Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakstan.

Twelve years in one paragraph. Did it go that fast for you, too?

Ken's update from January 2009:

Current occupation: Beltway Bandit (i.e. support contractor) for SAIC, Inc., a Fortune 500 defense constractor. I am a Department of Defense acquisition expert and program manager. Retired from the Navy in 2001.

Married to Susan since 1981. She used to be an elementary school teacher, but she took courses. Now she is an elementary school librarian, which is a much better deal.

We have five children. From oldest to youngest:

Michael (Mike) - math major at the University of Virginia. Aspiring lawyer.
Elizabeth (Elizabeth) - 2008 graduate of the US Naval Academy. Now at Pensacola, FL awaiting flight school.
Emily (Emily) - Biology major at University of Virginia. Aspiring doctor.
Katherine (Katie) - High school senior. Going through college application agony.
William (Will) - High school sophomore. Loosely connected to planet Earth.

My father died last year. As did my last aunt. My mother lived in Parma (Parma!?). My two sisters still live in the Cleveland area. Big sis Joyce lives off Schaaf Road. She is a retired teacher and works downtown in a factory that designs and makes decorative rubber stamps. Little sis Joanne lives in Parma close to our mom, which is cool because she is a nurse.

I don't travel to the former Soviet Union anymore. I bought all the souvenirs I'll ever need. More, actually.

I'm currently playing in three bands. One is a low key church band. The second is a slightly higher ky band that plays oldies (real oldies like 1930's thru 1980's stuff) for church dances and nursing home audiences. The third band actually does some high quality gigs. They lost their guitar player so they recruited me. For those who speak guitar I just bought a Fender James Burton Upgrade model Telecaster. Sweet.

I'm not going to update the photograph until after some serious surgery and hair coloring.
