Thirty years since graduation. I can't believe it. Anyhow, here's a synopsis of what I've been up to.
I went to Case Western Reserve University. I started out wanting to be an aerospace engineer. After a few tough courses, I switched majors and wound up with a degree in civil engineering. It was still pretty tough going, especially since I was having fun being on my own for the first time.
Anyhow, after graduating in 1973, I went to work for Factory Mutual in downtown Cleveland. I worked as a fire inspector for a couple of years, and then decided I wanted to use my degree. I went to work for the Austin Company in Euclid. Learned the art of structural engineering and stayed there for about three years.
I met a girl from Willowick. We got married in 1975. She talked me into moving to Denver in 1978. The strain of the move was too much for our fragile marriage, and we ended up getting a divorce in 1980. I worked for Stearns-Roger and later for Stone and Webster in Denver. For the next three years, I enjoyed the life of a single man.
One night that all changed at a friend's party when I met Karen. We got married in 1983, and started a family in 1985, with the birth of our daughter, Christine. She is truly a joy to us and later we were blessed again when Andrew was born two years later.
Christine and Andy are both in middle school now and doing great. Christine enjoys soccer, new clothes, talking with her friends, and this past year came real close to winning our state's geography bee. Andy is equally brilliant in math (he is taking algebra as a fifth grader) and he won the school chess title. Don't you just hate it when parents brag about their kids? Oh well, I'm sorry but I am real proud of the way they turned out. My mom and brother still live in Garfield Heights.
