JANICE FIFIK (nee Kay), age 55, of Nova, OH, formerly of Maple Hts. Beloved wife of David; dear mother of Michael (Heather Knapp-Fifik) and Alison Fifik; loving grandmother of Hannah Fifik; sister of Elaine O'Hara; daughter of Joseph and the late Garnet (nee Albrecht) Kay. Died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 195 St., Cleveland, 44119. Services will be held Monday, Sept. 12, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Romito, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 521 Broadway, Bedord, OH 440-232-1441, where friends will be recieved Sunday 2-6 p.m. Burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
On September 18, 2005, Dave wrote that Jan had breast cancer two years ago and went through chemo for 5 months. Her cancer came back in the fall of 2004 and she went through another 5 months of chemo, but in May 2005 the cancer spread to her liver. That resulted in more chemo, but in August 2005 she had 10 tumors on her brain. She was treated with radiation to keep her from strokes and other complications. When she died in September, she passed quietly and didn't suffer.
