One source reported that he died in 1996. Another (Bill Barrett, Biology Teacher/Wrestling Coach) reported that Lon was alive in or near Milwaukee.

In 1970, while wrestling for Michigan State University, Lon made it to the NCAA championship tournament, but lost in the first round.
