Erik, born September 13, 1979, is the son of John and Linda Herberth of Avon Lake. In 2001, he led the school's golf team in scoring with a 69.91 average and won the Colonel Classic and Xavier Provident Invitational.
In May of 2002, Erik became the first-ever Bobcat to qualify for an NCAA Regional. He was also named first-team all-MAC, making him the first Bobcat since Michael Walker in 1993 to accomplish the feat.
