The following obituary appeared in the July 19, 2002, Lorain Chronicle-Telegram:
Jack Norman, 74, of Elyria, died Thursday at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a brief illness.
Born in South Amherst, he was a lifelong Elyria Resident.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Norman worked for Tomlinson Steam and Specialty Co. in Strongsville before retiring in 1992. After his retirement, he owned and operated J.N. Boiler Services in Elyria.
He was a member of Freemont Moose Lodge and enjoyed gardening, yard work, singing and playing the guitar.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Loretta (nee Dye); daughters Bonnie Day O'Donnell of Elyria and Constance Jane Lorello of Painesville Township; a stepdaughter, Melissa Mills of Ridgeville; a son, Thomas Jack Norman of Rex, GA; stepsons Michael Synovetz of Parma, Stephen Synovetz of North Ridgeville and John Synovetz of Elyria; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katie E. Austin of Elyria. He was preceded in death by his parents, John S., in 1970, and Agnes W. (nee Carscadden), in 1990; and brothers Fred and Lee Norman.
