Osman [?] Handani/Otha Nash

Trombone

(1975 - 1977)

Another desperate nickname from my seemingly never ending supply of dodgy nicknames.
The Gangs' first trombonist has been given this nickname because to my knowledge the band have only ever had two trombonists, the well known Clifford Adams and Otha Nash the "other" trombonist that is so easily forgotten by most people outside the band and it's management plus since Nash means Cliff (see below) we now have other Cliff - Cliff Adams and Otha Nash, Kool & The Gang's two trombonists.
Otha Nash is one of those names known only to Gangheads outside the band even though he did contribute "Do It Right Now" to Love & Understanding.
He was in the band from "Spirit Of The Boogie" to "The Force".
Osman means "God's protection" but is also the name of the first of the ottamans which varients as Uthman OR Othman and in this form means "Baby Bustard" (that's the bird) or "Tender Youth" likly an Easten opinion of Bustards,
Handani has a meaning I don't know,
Otha means "wealth",
Nash means "cliff" (interesting and very true) or in this case "near the ash tree".
