George Melvin Brown

Drums

(1969 - 2003)

The bands drummer, percussionist (and occasional pianist) since the beginning. He has contributed a lot of songs to Kool & The Gang's repertoire (especially romantic ones) and thus has a song on every (thus far) album since "Kool And The Gang And Good Times" (except "Light Of Worlds", the prior albums are excluded because most of the contents were by "Kool & The Gang-Gene Redd" with very few exceptions.
George Brown seems not to write instrumentals as every track of his I have heard has vocals to some or other degree.
George means "farmer"
Melvin means "smooth brow"
and Brown means exactly what it says.
Please note that all surname meanings are derived (in most cases) from the meaning of their first name equivalent so if you know that any meaning differs when used as a surname please email and tell me.
