Donald Wesley Boyce (Donal Boyce)

Vocal Effects

(1973 - 1980)

For those of you wondering why Donal Boyce - reoccuring guest artist as he is - is being listed on this site as a member of the band well the answer is actually simple and runs as follows.
Donal Boyce first appeared on "Jungle Boogie" on the "Wild And Peaceful" LP as is well known.
The insleeve of the album lists Donal as a guest artist and that the track is written by Kool & The Gang.
Now extended versions of the writing credits include Donal Boyce (Donald Boyce actually) hence by implication Donal Boyce is a member of Kool & The Gang.
He appeared most frequently after this and was - until the second transistion - only absent from "Light Of Worlds", "Love & Understanding" (remember "Cosmic Energy" was written for "Spirit Of The Boogie") and from"Everybody's Dancin'" on miscellaneous vocals.
Donal means "World Mighty" (well the voice was),
Wesley means "The West Meadow"
and Boyce means "Forest" (or small jungle).
