Now if any of you have come here all exited thinking "hooray he knows the listings for this" or something like that, sorry I don't. However unlike some other Kool & The Gang sites out their I am not going to make my site pretending it doesn't exist just because I don't know what's on it and I eagerly await the day of it's proper and full reissue on CD.

However what I do know about this record is that it was a very early (by any standards) compilation album released between the two live albums possibly to break them up and charted #32 R&B and #157 Pop. Why Kool & The Gang decided to release their first compilation this early (October, 1971) is unknown to me - perhaps it was in memory of Woody Sparrow, perhaps because they had a awful lot of studio tracks that they had previously been unable to fit on an album, perhaps both or neither I wouldn't like to choose one.
If you know the reason or the track listing please e-mail me as soon as possible so I can put them up.

What I do know about the contents are that it definitely contained the single versions of the title track and "Kool It (Here Comes The Fuzz)" (I am not sure if this is live too or just live in the studio but the liner notes of what I heard it on gave no impression it was live). It will also probably contain (hopefully if the previously stated second reason for release is at least partially correct) "Can't Stop (Doing It To You)" and "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8".
If we are lucky it may also contain studio or fuller versions (still assuming the fade outs tell us they were edited) of their tracks from the previous album ("Funky Man", "What Would The World Be like Without Music", "Who's Gonna Take The Weight?" (I have seen evidence sugesting this one is studio), etc). The cover tracks were probably for the show so are less likely to have studio versions (and the others don't necessarily have to).In my research I have learned of the availability of a "Best of" 2 LP record second hand if this is it may explain why the album has yet to be reissued Kool & The Gang tend to fill their compilations and the double LP's tend to come to over 75 minutes and thus to my knowledge won't fit easily on any CD but this information could help you remember the track listing.
I also have information oposing this and have seen the cover - it's a beutiful gold colour.

Now continue to (...) Live At P.J.'s(, Hollywood(, California)).
