| Haruka quickly checked the room to make sure everything was acceptable. She had lit candles all over the room so that it was just enough light to see clearly, but was low enough for the ideal atmosphere. In the background, Haruka had put on some soft romantic music. She poured the champagne and checked on the sashimi she had prepared for Michiru. This evening had to be perfect. She heard Michiru's car drive up to the driveway. She had just come back from a performance at a prestigious concert hall, so she should still be in fancy dress. That suited Haruka just fine, since she was dressed rather nice herself. She had told Michiru that she had a prior engagement this morning, in hopes that this evening would be possible. Now it would be a reality. "Haruka?" Michiru had entered the house and probably was wondering where her wife was. She followed the music to the dining room and was delighted at the scene before her. Haruka was dressed in a handsome suit and stood across the room from her. "Michiru, would you care to join me for dinner?" she asked with great politeness as she bowed. "Ara, I'd love to." Haruka walked over and pulled out a chair for her wife. Then she sat down across from her. "Sashimi!" Michiru exclaimed. "My favorite." "I know." Michiru's eyes twinkled mischievously. "Is there a reason for this royal treatment? Or do I not want to know?" "Oh, you definitely want to know," Haruka answered, just as lightheartedly. "But first a toast." She raised her glass. "To us. To the future. To new beginnings." "Kanpai," Michiru said as they both took a sip. Haruka watched her beautiful wife. She couldn't believe how lucky she had been. That she would be destined to work side-by-side with this gorgeous individual, that Michiru would fall in love with her, that they were able to make everything work out despite all the obstacles that stood in their way. And most of all, that she was going to be able to make Michiru so happy right now. And as far as her personal life went, that was the most important thing of all. "I talked to Odango Atama today. She said she would," she stated plainly. "She would?" "Hai, tonight, we could." Michiru's eyes filled with tears. "We could?" Haruka nodded. "She said that if we tried tonight, she would do her best to make sure we conceived." "Haruka, I-" Michiru had wanted a baby for the longest time, and now she found herself speechless at the prospect. Dinner was forgotten, all she knew was that somehow Haruka had managed to make her even happier than before. "Aishiteru," she whispered. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Michiru's head lay on Haruka's chest. It rose and fell steadily, but she knew Haruka was still awake. "This was the most perfect night, Haruka. Arigatou." "I would do anything to make you happy, Michiru." "Are you nervous? About the new life we just made?" Haruka smiled. "Just a bit. But want to hear something beautiful that makes me certain that it will be okay?" Michiru nodded. "Before Elsa introduced us, I had met you before. Not in our past lives. In our current ones. I saw you coming to me and asking me to join you. It was a vision of Sailor Neptune and after the first time, I dismissed it because I didn't want my destiny to interfere with my dreams. But the first time The first time I saw you." She closed her eyes to better visualize it. She must have remembered it millions of times. Even before she accepted her destiny, she had been enchanted by her first glimpse of Michiru. "The first time I saw you, I thought you were an angel. That you had come from Heaven just for me. And I was so in love with you, even though I wouldn't admit it to myself until much later. But after that, I just saw Sailor Neptune with a message of destiny and destruction, and I didn't think I was ready for that. But the first time, I truly thought you were there to be my angel." She put her arms around Michiru. "So you see, I'm not really worried about having a baby. Because in my eyes, you can do no wrong. And this child is destined to be a little angel, just like her mother." "You're right," Michiru said as she snuggled with Haruka, pleasantly surprised by how truly romantic her wife was being this evening. "That is a beautiful story." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Haruka was very glad that she had given Michiru her left hand, instead of her right one. She wasn't going to be able to use it for awhile. Still she remained supportive, even as her wife told her how much she hated her for putting her through this pain. Well, she had been warned. "Okay, Michiru-san. Just one more push," the doctor told her. And before Haruka knew it, she had a beautiful baby girl. Dr. Naru cut the umbilical cord and cleaned her off a little. "Can I see her?" both parents asked eagerly. Dr. Naru wrapped her in a blanket and gave her to Michiru. "Have you two decided on a name?" he asked her. Michiru gazed at the awe-inspiring thing in her arms. There was only one name for her, and it wasn't on the list. Despite giving Haruka such grief earlier for choosing a new name, she never bothered to consult with her wife. She revealed it, never knowing what "perfect" name Haruka was planning to suggest earlier. "Tenshi," she replied, much to Haruka's wonder and delight. "Her name is Tenoh Tenshi." |
