| Chapter 8: Suffocated The twins reached the base of the cliff when Mi-chan thought she heard a noise behind them. She whirled around just in time to see an attack hurtling towards the two of them. Without even thinking, Mi-chan shoved Neko out of the path of the column of water rapidly advancing. Unable to save herself too, Mi-chan took the full force. She and the energy attack slammed into the cliff wall. CRASH! At first she thought it was her that had made the noise, but before she could even consider this, she felt excruciating pain from Neko just before she felt her twin leave her consciousness. Forgetting her own pain, Mi-chan sprang to her feet, searching anxiously for her sister. For one panic stricken moment, Mi-chan thought that Neko had just disappeared. Then, seeing a huge pile of rocks about where Neko would have landed after Mi-chan pushed her, Mi-chan was seized with fear that Neko had been crushed under their weight. She raced towards them even as she began to realize that Neko hadnt even totally disconnected from her mind. Her presence was still there, though one of weak unconsciousness. *Now youre just getting paranoid* Mi-chan scolded herself, almost to the pile of rocks that were somehow hiding Neko. She had felt Neko totally disappear so many times lately that now she was growing jumpy at the least little disturbance in their link. *Neko-chan! NEKO!* Too late, she remembered their attacker, who took her distractedness as an opportunity to send off another attack. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* *NEKO!* Mi-chans efforts to force her sister conscious succeeded, and Neko coughed at the large amount of dust she had just inhaled as she opened her eyes. A small patch of light gave her enough information as to her situation she was imprisoned in a small indentation in the side of the cliff by what appeared to be a rockslide. She prepared to get up, but the slightest movement of her right hand shot pain through arm and the right side of her body. She screamed in agony, and her left hand instantly reached for her right, finding it crushed beneath a large stone. As she pried her mangled hand free, she bit her lip to keep from crying out again, but the effort was wasted when there came another crash from beyond the rock wall. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Mi-chan managed to dodge the second column of water, but when it hit the precipice, the force caused more debris to fall. Now that Neko was conscious again, Mi-chan felt her terror overlapping the preexisting pain, as her sister was completely sealed off from the outside world. There was only one thing to do she had to get this enemy away from the cliff and her sister. She turned to face the attacker. It was a yoma. She groaned inwardly as she sized him up. The yoma was undoubtedly once the surfer Neko had been glaring at earlier. Though he had looked normal enough back then, now his face and hands were a bright yellow and his wet suit seemed to be an element of his skin, with a bright red jewel at his neck. He carried a seemingly normal surfboard, though the orange board clashed with the yomas medium-length magenta hair, which was tied back in a single ponytail. *Kami-sama, youd think his creator would have had the decency to color-coordinate at least* Mi-chan scoffed as she pulled out her henshin stick. Hey, you, Surferboy! she yelled, now as Electra. How about actually hitting your target this time. With that, she ran out from the cliffs side, forcing him to aim his attacks elsewhere. It was counterintuitive for her to run away from her suffering twin, but at the moment, it was what was going to keep Neko alive. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Neko frantically gulped down lungfuls of dusty air as she was plunged into complete darkness. *Kami-sama. Im trapped. Im trapped* she chanted hysterically to herself, fighting a losing battle to remain calm. Calm down, she commanded herself through gritted teeth. Calm down and think! It was supposed to be what she was good at, but right now she was having a hard time getting her mind past the small enclosed space she was in. Her left hand reached for her henshin stick. Perhaps she could use a Celestial Force and clear out some of the boulders. Her knuckles were turning white from the intensity with which she was gripping the pen, her only hope at the moment, but eventually she let go of it and gave up the idea of transforming. Celestial Force might clear the way so that she could escape, but it could also bring the rest of the cliff down on her. Stay calm, she warned herself, her shaking voice barely above a whisper. Dont panic. Neko panicked. She lunged at her prison wall and began to dig at it, clawing at the dirt and rocks that she could handle one-handed. But she made little headway with this attempt. She tried to use her other hand, but searing pain shot up her arm even with just the most minor movement of the wrist. She backed away from the wall and fell to her knees, cradling her arm as tears began to form in her eyes. She was trapped! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Electra found herself ankle-deep in water on the other side of the beach where she was fighting Surferboy, as she had so dubbed him. The only problem was that as soon as he hit the water, she wouldnt be able to use her energy attacks anymore because it could electrocute her as well. She was trying to make her way to the rocks at the end of the beach, hoping that they would provide her a way around the headland that separated Tenshis beach from the next beach over. Her single focus was to get this yoma as far from Neko as possible. *Im sorry, Neko-chan* Electra thought as she bounded out of the way of another attack by Surferboy. She could feel her sisters overwhelming panic, but she had to block it out in order to concentrate on this yoma. Now standing on a rock above the water level, she sent him a St. Elmos Fire. The yoma used his surfboard as a shield and deflected the attack, but not the Dazzling Bolts she sent him a moment later. That was so not gnarly, Dude! the yoma complained. Im totally going to kick your ass for that. He rushed towards her and swung his surfboard at her, but Electra easily dodged as he almost slipped. But just then, she felt another stab of panic from Neko and was hit by his second swing. Neko-chan! she grimaced, though she was worried about her claustrophobic twin. She watched him as he coated his feet with some substance Sex Wax, to keep him from slipping on the rocks? She didnt know and didnt care. Ill try Electra was cut off as she had to jump out of the way of another attack by the stabilized yoma. *Ill try to get there* An energy attack came flying at her, and though she dodged, she also slipped, falling off the rock and into the water. Shimatta! she swore, as she rolled to face her advancing assailant. But as he was just about on top of her, Electra hurled her shoulder into his stomach and then threw him behind her. *soon* she finished her promise to Neko, as she and the yoma stood back up. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* *Im sorry, Neko-chan Ill try Ill try to get there soon.* |
