| Chapter 3: ...That Loving Feeling All day Monday, Neko could hardly contain her excitement at seeing Tenshi later. She spent most of it happy just by the thought of Tenshi. Mi-chan must have been picking up on it because, by their third class, she began rolling her eyes at Neko the way she did back when Nekos and Tenshis relationship was still rather new. But rather than being distressed by Mi-chans negative reception of her sickeningly sweet thoughts, Neko couldnt help but giggle. She would put up with any amount of teasing from Mi-chan, if only she could spend another perfect night with Tenshi. She was so looking forward to seeing her fiance at Kempo. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Kempo was not as exciting as one might imagine. The class was sparring today, so much to Tenshis and Nekos disappointment, they couldnt do any one-on-one practicing. And, unlike Jian-wa and Mi-chan who were sparring at the moment, Tenshi and Neko were too unevenly matched to spar against each other. At least, Tenshi reflected, they could stand next to each other as they cheered Mi-chan (and alternatively Jian-wa) on. Tenshi put her arm around her lover, but though Neko leaned against her, she was too focused on her twin to pay too much attention. Finally, Jian-wa got in the last kick, beating Mi-chan with three points to her two. He gave her a quick no hard feelings kiss and then ran over to Neko. Its about time to get ready for soccer, he pointed out. She nodded and started towards the door. Having already sparred, Tenshi followed them and caught Neko outside the doorway. Ne, will I see you later tonight? she asked. Neko gave Jian-wa a look that said, You can go on without me. Ill catch up. Then she leaned against the wall and asked bashfully, You want to see me tonight? Of course. And we can do anything you want, I promise. Neko looked up into her eyes. Ill hold you to that, you know, she said softly, as she put her hand on Tenshis cheek and leaned in for a kiss. Tenshis thoughts had been about nothing but Neko for the past few minutes. Her head was filled with romantic music and flowers and the undying wish to make Neko happy. Suddenly, though, it was too loud and too confusing. She jerked back from Neko as she tried to cope with the sudden change, wondering where it came from. Tenshi, are you okay?! Neko cried out. But Tenshi couldnt separate Nekos cries from the noise in her head. She shook her head trying to clear it, but nothing seemed to help. Her mind was on overload! Neko turned into the doorway, but before she could get too far and ask their Kempo coach for help, Tenshi felt the pressure on her mind dissipate. Koneko, she hissed and grabbed Nekos sleeve before she could get some help and make a big fuss. Its okay, Im fine. Neko didnt look convinced. Are you sure? she asked worriedly. Tenshi nodded, and Neko let the matter drop. Ok, go to soccer. Ill see you at my apartment afterwards. With a quick kiss, Tenshi ducked back into the classroom, leaving a concerned Neko behind. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Tenshi quickly dried her hair before Neko showed up after soccer practice. The shower she had just taken left her feeling refreshed and free of her worries over what had happened before. Her hair dry, she unplugged the dryer and ran her hands through her hair, letting it fall wherever it wanted. The beauty of having short hair was that she didnt really have to deal with it all that much. She heard the knock at her door and made her way there, ready to receive her beautiful visitor. Opening the door, she was met with a kiss from Neko. I missed you, the green-haired girl admitted quietly. Me too, Tenshi replied, distantly. She let Neko in, but was beginning to grow dizzy as she felt the same thing that had happened before happen again. Feeling better? Neko asked. Tenshi made a sound that she supposed resembled an affirmative, but the overlapping noise in her head was making it hard to concentrate. She smiled at her fiance, that same smile that her family could always use so well to hide their inner turmoil. Good, Neko replied, though her face was beginning to show signs of worry, as if she knew something was wrong despite Tenshis act. Perhaps she just wanted to take Tenshis mind off of it, though, because she wrapped her arms around Tenshis neck and said mischievously, My okaa-san came home last night, and I already called her, so you have me to yourself all evening, you lucky girl. Lets see what we can do about a romantic evening together, ne? No! Tenshi pushed Neko away as Tenshis thoughts of romance seemed to fill her mind to the point where she felt like it was going to explode. She couldnt handle the excess, and she didnt know where it had come from. Something was wrong! And it seemed that something, or someone, didnt want her and Neko to be together, because thats when it seemed to happen. She knew she couldnt let it get in their way! And yet she wasnt sure that it was something she could fight. Neko was hurt and concerned, but Tenshi couldnt let her love see her like this. Im fine. Just- Please, just go away, Koneko, she pleaded, pushing a protesting Neko gently out the door. I just need to be alone for now. Im sorry. Demo But Tenshi had closed the door in her face and leaned against it before Neko could get a single sentence out. Gomen nasai, Koneko, Tenshi whispered, knowing that even though Neko was still on the other side of that door, she couldnt hear her. But though Tenshi could hear through the door quite clearly Nekos cries to let her back in, to tell her what was wrong, she couldnt let Neko see her this weak. Even as Nekos wounded cries echoed through her head long after Neko had gone, Tenshi didnt budge. Just go away, she whispered to the other thoughts in her head that werent her own. Please, leave me alone! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Nekos eyes were filled with tears as she straddled her bike out in front of Tenshis apartment complex. She knew she wasnt going anywhere for a while, not since she could barely see straight right now. The scene flashed through her mind again how Tenshi had pushed her away. Her commands to go away and leave her alone echoed through Nekos head like a recording on repeat. Neko refused to believe that this was the classic post-sex scenario where the guy, having gotten what he wanted, wont have anything to do with the girl after he has sex with her. Shed been with Tenshi for almost exactly a year, and they were engaged, for goodness sake! No, she was certain that Tenshi loved her. |
