Chapter 3:  Racing Time

Michiru-chan! Haruka shouted as Mi-chan and Jasper were thrown across the room.
Jian-wa didnt even stop to think.  He raced over to them, beating Haruka there only because he reacted first.  Mi-chan! he yelled, falling to his knees by her unconscious body.  He tried slapping her awake and was relieved when it worked.  Oh, thank god!
Huh?  Nani?  She was clearly dazed, but conscious, so he turned his attention to Jasper, who hadnt faired any better than her.
Come on!  Jasper wasnt as easy to wake up, but his heart was beating, and he was breathing, though shallowly, so Jian-wa felt a little better about that.
Finally, Jasper gasped for breath and opened eyes.  Damn, he groaned.  Wha- what happened?
It looked like the computer electrocuted you, Jian-wa said slowly, returning his attention to Mi-chan and helping her to her unsteady feet.
Though I would suspect it had some help from a spirited Senshi and her element, Haruka posited.  She almost seemed amused now that it was clear that Mi-chan was out of danger.
Well, if he hadnt insisted on being in my face! Mi-chan cried hotly.  She closed her eyes and moaned.  Im sure thats just what Neko needed to feel after that drug he gave her.

Neko jumped as a shock flowed through her entire body, leaving her tingling a few moments afterwards.  Mi-chan! she screamed, but soon felt her sister, clearly conscious, though a bit stunned.  She took a deep breath and got to her feet, the adrenaline still flowing through her body.  One thing that seemed to be going for her, the shock had forced her brain past the last remnants of the tranquilizers effects.
     *
Mi-chan? Daijoubu ka?*
     *
Fine.  Were working on your location.  Well be there soon.*
Neko sighed with relief even at the curt response because she knew that Mi-chan really was more or less okay if she could concentrate on sending Neko a mental message.  She unconsciously cradled her left hand in her right in response to the burn Mi-chan had received from the GPS unit.  She would give anything to have Mi-chan let Jasper heal her, but she knew that Mi-chan wouldnt let him touch her.  Mi-chan didnt even like it when Tenshi healed her.  But Neko wished she wasnt so against it, if not for Mi-chans own sake, then for Nekos.
She concentrated on the happier thought that occurred at Mi-chans message.  If Mi-chan was sure that theyd be there soon, Neko was certain that it had to be true.  She wished she had her watch on, so that she could know how close it was to her wedding.  Between being unconscious and drugged, she had lost all track of time, and Mi-chan wasnt exactly concerned with the time left at this particular moment.
Neko leaned against the near wall, concentrating on Mi-chan.  For one moment their minds met, in perfect harmony as Mi-chan sought her out with equal intensity.  Like coming home, Mi-chans unshielded mind gave her more comfort than she could have believed possible in this situation.  As long as she and Mi-chan were together, anything was possible.  Mi-chan was going to save her and her wedding!
It was with a jolt that her confidence left her as Mi-chans focus waned.  *Mi-chan will save me!  Mi-chan will save me!* she chanted silently, trying to bolster her spirits again.  Neko continued giving her attention to Mi-chans thoughts, waiting and listening for clues to how close they were getting to saving her and reminding her how important it was to her that the wedding not be spoiled for Tenshi at the very least.
The door opening above pulled her out of her thoughts after some time.  She looked up, but couldnt see anything.  There was no chance to react at all before she was shot again.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Jasper gingerly touched the GPS unit to make sure it wasnt hot, then picked it up and examined it.  The screen was blank, a fact that didnt change after hitting the on/off button.  The unit was fried.
Let me see it, Mi-chan ordered.
Have a blast.  Jasper nonchalantly tossed the useless unit to her (ignoring the skill with which she caught it one-handed) and went off to get another one.
By the time he found one, she had given up on it.  Before he finished crossing the room, he had started it up and was having it search for satellites.  Just let me get it set up, okay? he said, preempting Mi-chans inevitable directive.  The unit beeped, indicating it had found at least three satellites and Jasper switched the screen over to check how many feet off the reading might be.
He gave a low whistle.  Wow, the accuracy on this is incredible!
Well, the satellites for the moon are mainly for palace use, so the signal is strongest here, Haruka explained.
I see.  Jasper held the GPS unit over the computer chair as he hooked up the USB cord again and saved the point.  A few keystrokes on the keyboard and a red dot appeared on the screen, pretty much about where he had guessed they were in the palace.
Great.  Now, if you would, Michiru-san. He beckoned for her to sit.
I dont know what you expect me to do with that dot, she grumbled, sitting and staring blankly at the keyboard.
Nothing.  Now I need you to point towards Neko-chan again.
Oh.  All eyes were on Mi-chan as she closed her eyes and swiveled around in the chair until she apparently was pointing towards Neko.  At least shes not drugged anymore so this wont be affected by that.
Jasper nodded, noting that this was the second time that Mi-chan had mentioned Neko had been drugged and wishing that she would mention things like that when they happened.  But things would go quicker if he didnt say anything.  Instead he lined himself up with Mi-chans finger a few feet away from her and saved another point.  Then backing up as far as he could on that line, he saved a third.
That ought to be enough.  Jasper ran back to the computer and plotted those points on the map too.
