Epilogue: Newborn

Little by little, the pain began to subside, and as it did, her consciousness began to become more and more aware of sensations other than the pain.  Her body began to relax until finally she thought she could manage to open her eyes.
As soon as she had, her companion at the edge of the bed jumped at the chance to ask her, "Neko-chan.  Are you feeling better?"
It was all so bright.  She gazed around the room with interest as she answered slowly, "I feel fine."  She was intrigued by everything around her.  The bookcase filled with books and stuffed animals and trophies.  The desk with the computer and even more books.  The trinkets on the dresser beside the bed.  The whole other half of the room almost the same, though slightly more messy.  And finally, the green-haired girl who held her hand.
Her deep violet eyes were filled with so much concern, so much pain.  And she realized that she didn't know why.  She concentrated on the girl, trying to think of who she was and why she would be so worried, but she kept coming up blank.
     "Ano, who are you?"
