| "Tenshi-kun-" "'-san!'" "Huh?" Tenshi gave her a defiant glare. "I'm not dating your sister anymore. We're not friends. And I'm older than you. So call me Tenshi-san, alright?" "Demo." Mi-chan knew Tenshi hated that. On the other hand, she was offended that she had been addressed by Tenshi that way, so she let her temper control her tone when she continued. "Fine, whatever! You know, I was just going to offer to let Jian-kun partner up with you today for Kempo to make it easier on you and Neko-chan!" Her anger escalating, she continued, "But, you know what, just don't come! I don't want you there, and Neko-chan sure as hell doesn't need to see you there. She's upset enough without you being at her every activity." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Long before she turned the corner of the hall, Neko knew that Mi-chan was there. She could feel she was upset, but before she reached her, she knew why too. She could hear Mi-chan and Tenshi's argument. In fact, she was just a couple feet beyond them. "without you being at her every activity." "She's upset?!" Tenshi's voice was filled with bitterness and sarcasm. "Sure, that's justified. Although, you know, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that she was the dumper, not the dumpee." "Ten-" By now Mi-chan had realized that Neko was within hearing range. "No, no, no. You don't have to explain. I understand that all you care about is your twin, but you know, maybe you should consider that she's not the wronged party here." Neko slowly walked out from behind the corner with the intention of stopping the argument. But once she got out there, and saw Tenshi standing there in the guy's fuku, yelling at Mi-chan, Neko found she couldn't speak. Mi-chan tried for her. She met her sister's tear-filled eyes, hoping her own would express how sorry she was, as she tried to interrupt Tenshi. "Don't-" "But sure, I'll quit Kempo! Would you like me to quit pole vault too? Because really, all I need in my life is to give up one more thing. To lose just one more thing that I loved. But I'm sure that's fine for you. I mean, just as long as your sister's happy. But, you know, I was the one whose heart was torn to shreds here. I didn't get a choice in the matter. So, tell me, why I should care what she feels?!" "Shut. Up," Mi-chan said forcefully, finally able to get a word in edgewise. "Why?! Why should I ever give a damn what that insensitive child thinks of me?!" she yelled as Neko tried to stifle a sob. "Because she's standing right behind you, baka!" Mi-chan told her. But Tenshi had already heard her. She turned quickly, but with only enough time to see Neko run off. "Ko-" she whispered. "Neko-chan!" Mi-chan pushed past Tenshi and ran after her sister. She truly didn't care that she had just shoved Tenshi to the ground. She was only concerned about Neko. Tenshi brushed herself off as she got up. "Just perfect," she said moodily before continuing to class. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* During lunch, Jian-wa watched the twins as he ate, unsure of what he could do to help. Neko just sat there staring at her unopened bento . Mi-chan was trying to cheer her up, but it wasn't working. Finally, Mi-chan got impatient. "Come on! You've got to eat something!" she begged her sister. "I'm not hungry," Neko answered lifelessly. "I don't care! I haven't seen you eat in three days! Eat something!" The cafeteria bustled with life around them, but Neko didn't care. All she could think about was what Tenshi had said. But it wasn't even that so much. It was that Tenshi seemed to have changed, and not just by wearing a different uniform. Neko had never seen her that angry before. Sure, she had had the occasional glare at someone who ticked her off, and of course, she hadn't been exactly friendly to the enemies of the Moon Kingdom, but even then she had had some grace that had made it seem like she would forgive them if they gave her the chance. There was just something different about her today - as if she had renounced that angel that Neko had fallen in love with. In fact, it almost upset her more than breaking up with her. At least then, she believed she was doing Tenshi a favor, allowing her sweet angel to live even if Neko wasn't going to be by her side. But now it almost seemed like she had killed Tenshi afterall. And that just made Neko feel sick. "Stop moping about Tenshi-kun already!" Jian-wa came over from the other side of the table and put his arm around her. "Neko-chan, she's just angry and confused right now. She'll get over it you will too. I promise." Neko tried to smile at him, but failed miserably. She couldn't help doubting that Jian-wa had any clue what he was talking about, since the only person he had ever loved was Mi-chan. Still, she wasn't going to let him know that she doubted him. So she just nodded and opened her bento and stirred her food around long enough so that they would leave her alone. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Jian-wa threw his afterschool clothes into the long locker next to his small "locker" in the high school level men's locker room. His Kempo fuku wasn't in that small locker, but his soccer uniform was, and since soccer was after Kempo, he usually changed into his uniform before putting the gi over his clothes. "Oh, hello!" |
