Part 4, page 2
But her worries about her lack of corsage were alleviated a second later when Angel held up a small collection of flowers.  "You got me some?"  She was glad that she wouldn't be without a corsage then, thought she briefly wondered if Angel had thought that she was so immature that she wouldn't think of something like a corsage.  Of course, she actually hadn't, so maybe that was justified.
"Well, I, uh, had some extra flowers, and uh, you mentioned that you, uh, didn't dance well. So I, uh, thought that you might not think to get a corsage."  The fact that Angel was so flustered, put Kat more at ease.  Obviously, she wouldn't be so nervous if she didn't care what Kat thought about her.
But although seeing Angel flustered made her feel more comfortable, Kat didn't feel it was fair to tease Angel about it.  She had considered it - after all, it was fun to be in control of the relationship.  But just watching Angel worry about such a little thing as giving her a corsage, she decided that she couldn't do it.  She wanted to set the record straight.  At this moment, she was very glad that Puroko had called; at least she knew Angel's intentions now.
"The corsage looks really beautiful.  Thank you so much, Angel.  Could you please pin them on me?"
     Angel blushed.  "Oh, I"
"I trust you," she said sensing that Angel was worried she'd accidentally stick the pin into Kat instead.  Actually Kat was a little worried about it too, but she didn't let on because trust was an important part of any friendship.  Before she knew it, Angel had done it flawlessly.
     "Looks good," she said.
"Yeah," Angel agreed, but she seemed to have moved on from the corsage and was now looking at Kat.  Kat blushed at the compliment.  She struggled to find something to say.
"Well, uh, shouldn't we go to dinner soon?"
~*~*~*~*~*~
Kat's dress looked like it was made just for her.  It was deep red with spaghetti straps keeping it on her shoulders and a loose skirt, which would make it easier to dance.  Her hair was mostly down, but the hair on each side had been braided and woven together as if she wore a crown of braids.  She had replaced her usual heart earrings with some pearls, but she had kept her crystal blue heart necklace.  She wore very light make-up, but it complimented her colors well, and as she was already pretty cute.  The other two times Angel had seen her, Kat had come out of doing some kind of sport, but Angel had to admit that she even looked cute then.  Now, all dressed up, she was even prettier than before, and it had taken Angel a little off-guard.
Luckily, she had managed not to make an idiot of herself.  She had even pinned the corsage onto the dress without sticking Kat with the pin.
"Well, uh, shouldn't we go to dinner soon?"
A million thoughts went through Angel's head at the same time.  But the main one was whether she had remember to make reservations.  Her heart seemed to beat a hundred times faster than it had a few seconds ago.  It was on the list of things to do; had she done it?  "Dinner?" she asked weakly.
Kat suddenly looked a little less certain than she did a second ago.  "Angel, I can't start off our friendship owing you something.  If we go to dinner," she attempted, but then after a moment's pause, "well, you said I could pay."  She was starting to look panicked.
     Suddenly Angel remembered that she
had made the reservations.  It seemed like a great burden had been lifted off her chest. Plus now she no longer needed to guess what Kat's intentions were.  She didn't need to worry about intimidating her into being friends, Kat had said that their friendship was just starting.  She relaxed and a giant smile spread across her face.  "Oh yeah, well, we shouldn't miss our dinner reservations.  Shall we go?"  She offered her arm to Kat, and they made their way to the car.

Mitch and Jian had arrived at the restaurant.  "Now, Mitch," he said smiling, "remember, even if they have straw wrappers on the straws, this is still a fancy restaurant."
"Hey!"  This was the price she had to pay for dating her twin's best friend.
"I'm just saying, blowing them at people, is probably not the best idea tonight.  No matter how beautiful you look, they still might kick us out and then what would we do?" he teased, eyes twinkling.
"Jesus, get kicked out of one restaurant and I.  Beautiful?"  Had she been Kat, she would've blushed, but Mitch rarely blushed.  She was used to flirting.  Still, she hardly ever was called "beautiful."  "Cute" and "pretty," certainly.  But rarely "beautiful."
     "Totally."
"Well, I just had to live up to the standards of my handsome boyfriend, you know."
"Thank you."  And then, "Am I?"
     "What?"
"Am I your boyfriend?" he ask curiously.
Mitch thought about it for a second.  She usually didn't hang on to one guy for long.  And there was a part of her that was still interested in Isaac.  But she liked Jian a lot more than most guys for some reason.  Especially now that he wasn't quite as confused and was willing to flirt back.  He was nice, cute, smart, and athletic.  AND he interacted well with her family, even Shorty.
And of course, there was the added bonus of possibly making Kat jealous.  *Although she's got that new guy now.* Mitch had been watching from the upstairs window, but all she could see was a blond guy in a tux.  He didn't look like anyone she knew though.  *I don't understand why Kat's being all secretive.  Maybe, he's not as good-looking as she claimed or something.* For the briefest moment Mitch considered the possibility that Kat was worried that Mitch would steal her guy.  But that was absurd, why would she think that?
She forced her thoughts back to the question at hand.  Was Jian her boyfriend?  Was she willing to be that involved with a guy?  She looked at him.  Yep, she thought she was.
"I think so, Jian.  I think you really are."

Kat was highly amused, but a little worried.  Of all the restaurants in Crystal Tokyo, Angel had brought her to the Yacht Club.
"Reservations for Tenoh," Angel said, as Kat tried to hide her face from the matre d'.  She didn't trust him to know the difference between her and Mitch, and she really didn't want him to remember Mitch.
     "Of course.  Right this way."
Kat grabbed Angel's arm for guidance, but on the other side of where the matre d' was.  With her head still down, she let Angel lead her to the table.
Thankfully, the matre d' left as Angel pulled out Kat's chair.
"What was that all about?" Angel asked.
Kat sat down, but didn't answer or uncover her face until the matre d' had brought the menus and told them that a waiter would come to serve them soon.
Only after he had left the second time, did she look up.
     "Oh, wow!"
They were sitting at the table with the best view that the restaurant had to offer.
     "The view is so beautiful!"
"Yeah, I thought you might like it."  Kat pried her eyes away from the window to look at Angel, who was sitting there resting her chin on her folded hands, watching Kat's reaction.
"You're amused by me?"  She blushed in embarrassment.
"Why shouldn't I be?" Angel asked smiling.
"Because it makes me feel like I'm  not mature enough to be your friend," Kat admitted softly.
