Charms, interlude i, page 2

   Chibi had been on his way to the bathroom when Neko had come up the stairs. He'd been so surprised to see her there, that for several seconds he tried to determine whether he was dreaming. Why else would Neko be coming up the stairs, in the middle of the night, and in her afterschool clothes instead of her pajamas?
    "Neko-chan? Where did you come from?"
    Neko grabbed his hand with both of hers. Her violet eyes were wide and frantic. "Chibi, onegai, don't tell anyone that I came in this late."
    "What? Why are you-?"
    "I fell asleep at Tenshi-kun's house."
    "Oh. Oh! Dad's gonna kill you!"
    "Please, Chibi!"
    Chibi blinked. Neko was seldom naughty, and it was so rare to catch her in a situation like this. "Okay. Oh, but you'll have to do something for me."
    "Anything. What?"
    Chibi thought for a second. This was a big deal. He'd probably never get another chance like this again. And knowing Neko, she'd stay good to her word, and wouldn't try to get out of the deal by doing some little thing for him and calling it even. "Uh� I don't know. I'll tell you when something comes up."
    Neko nodded. "Thanks, Chibi."
