Besides, the ceremony was to award a grant from Inobeeshon, Inc., to a couple of inventors, one of whom would hopefully be Chiyako. It would be disrespectful to Hoshi for Neko to bring someone she obviously disliked so much to a party that was for her mother.

Hoshi had lost Neko and Tenshi. It figured. They were probably somewhere together, while she was here all alone, without either of her best friends.
It wasn't even as if Tenshi seemed to be pushing Neko around today. But it still bothered her how clingy Neko had been to her during the race. Even when Tenshi wasn't around, Neko seemed to be able to relate things to her, and it just made Hoshi upset that Tenshi seemed to be a part of every aspect of Neko's life here on Earth.
Or maybe she was just irritable right now because she couldn't get to Mi-chan.

No matter what had disturbed Hoshi, she decided not to let it get between her and the twins. They all went out and celebrated with each other and now were lounging at the Mizuno's house, without Tenshi. It really didn't matter when they were all there together. Then it almost seemed like the twins had never left Mercury.
"Ne, Neko-chan, you're bringing a date to the ceremony tomorrow, right?"
Neko shook her head. "Iie, I'm not bringing anybody."
"Not even Tenshi-kun?" Mi-chan asked carelessly. She grimaced as Neko and Hoshi each sent her a dirty look.
"No, Tenshi-kun has plans with her family," Neko informed the two of them sadly. But she was a little relieved. Now she wouldn't have to feel guilty not inviting her, and Hoshi would be happy too.
"That's okay," Hoshi said. "We'll just hang out together. In fact that's better because I was worried I'd be bored."
Neko smiled at her, glad to be able to help her friend now. "Well, I promise I'll stay with you the whole time. Maybe it won't be as boring then."
