| Part 2: Tenshi (6 months later) Tenshi ran up to the Mizuno house and rang the doorbell. Chibi answered the door. "Hey, Gebriel-kun. Is Koneko here?" Chibi crossed his arms and stood as a sentry at the doorway. "Does she know you're coming?" he inquired. "Yes, she knows," Mi-chan said coming up from behind him and ruffling his hair. "I'll get her," she told Tenshi. "Thanks." Tenshi smiled at her. Mi-chan couldn't help but smile too as she ran upstairs. Of course Neko knew that Tenshi was coming. Today was their two month anniversary. It was all Neko could talk about for the last few days. *Really, it's all she can talk about.* Mi-chan rolled her eyes. "Neko-chan, Tenshi-kun's here." "Okay, just a second." Neko finished putting in her earrings, which she had changed from the usual hearts that matched her necklace to some basic pink balls that matched her tank top. "How do I look?" she asked, worried. Mi-chan laughed. "Fine, don't worry about it." They were obviously going somewhere casual today - Tenshi hadn't been dressed up either. "Ne, where are you guys going?" "Somewhere very exclusive." She giggled. "Tenshi-kun's beach for an evening picnic." Neko slipped on some sandals, as Mi-chan nodded. She had only been to "Tenshi's beach" the one time when Neko had been attacked by a yoma there, but from what she had seen, it was a nice little spot. And it would be a good place for them to go to be alone on their anniversary. Suddenly Mi-chan realized something. "Hey, wouldn't this be mine and Jian-kun's anniversary too?" Neko frowned. "You want an anniversary of the dance?" Neko and Tenshi had almost not counted the dance as their first date, since it had been ruined and kinda traumatic. But in the end they had decided that since it was the day they had both known for sure that they both liked each other, and it was technically their first date, they would use the day for their anniversaries. Mi-chan and Jian-wa were different though. Granted, it was their first real date, but Jian-wa hadn't gone into it with any romantic designs. And while it was the day that he decided that he didn't want to kill her, something to celebrate in itself, it certainly wasn't the most romantic day they could choose. If Neko were to choose, she'd choose the day, about two weeks later, when Mi-chan and Jian-wa admitted that they loved each other. But of course, it wasn't up to her. Mi-chan seemed to come to the same conclusion. "Well, maybe I'll discuss it with Jian-kun." Of course by that time, if they chose the dance, they'd have to wait for their three month anniversary. "Alright, I'm ready. Are you sure I look okay?" "Yes, silly." Mi-chan pushed her sister out the door. "Now get going, before Chibi starts interrogating Tenshi-kun!" ~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Neko leaned against Tenshi and closed her eyes. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was relaxing and the comfort of Tenshi's arms around her was such a wonderful feeling. "Yen for your thoughts, Koneko." "I was just wishing that it could always be like this. So peaceful, so perfect." "Ara? We achieved perfection?" Tenshi asked curiously. "Yes. Here, now, you, me. This is perfect." "I'm taking notes. Is it the ocean, the bonfire, the moonlight, the food, the 'Tenshi loves Koneko' message?" Visible only from the top of the cliff behind them, Tenshi had made a heart and spelled out the note in driftwood on the beach. "Mmm, definitely the Tenshi loving Koneko part." Tenshi gave her a squeeze. "Well, the Koneko loving Tenshi part isn't so bad either." "Though I must admit the ocean and moonlight are working their magic as well." She opened her eyes and welcomed the glittering ocean. The full moon spilled into it and reflected as if it was an impressionist painting. "Let's do this every anniversary." "Well, tomorrow's the anniversary of our first kiss. A couple days later is when we ate together with my family. I guess that's sort of like taking you to meet my parents. A week after that is when I said I loved you. The next day is when I first took you to my beach. Two days later was our first fight, I mean if we really want to get everything. Oh, it's also the day I ended up dropping your honorific. And three days later I gave you that ring. Then" "Sooner or later you're gonna get back to today, you know," Neko teased, amazed that Tenshi knew all those days so well. "Maybe we should restrict it to this particular anniversary. I wouldn't want to get tired of it. Something like this should be special forever." "Everything's special with you, Koneko." "But it could become routine. You know, just another day at Tenshi's beach. I'd rather have it be just as romantic as it is tonight." Suddenly, Tenshi's tone sounded a bit worried. "Do you think we'll ever get used to each other? That maybe right now we're just twitterpated but someday you might say that it's just another date with Tenshi?" Neko twisted around to look at her girlfriend. "Of course not. I'm always going to be in love with you." But Tenshi wasn't as easily consoled as that. She wanted what her parents had, but she knew that many couples weren't like that. Most weren't that passionate once the relationship got too serious. And most first loves didn't even make it that far. "How can you know? We've only known each other for two months and two days. There's so much we don't know about each other. And we won't always be new and exciting to each other. Someday we might-" With a sudden kiss, Neko was able to get Tenshi to cut her speech short. "Tenshi-kun, I looked long and hard before I found my first love. Not the way Mi-chan did - trying out lots of guys, or girls, and waiting for the right one to show up. I only gave a few the chance to try-out and only you won the prize. When I met you, I didn't just randomly pick you out of a crowd and say, 'gee, maybe I'll date her for awhile.' I wasn't searching for a date. I mean, I kinda was because there was a dance and all, but really I was searching for love. And I could feel it right from the beginning, that there was something wonderful about you. So you don't have to worry about me falling out of love with you, okay? I would walk any distance to get to you, and I would withstand any amount of suffering if I could make sure you were okay. I am and always will be in love with you. It's as simple as that." "But you can't know-" "Tenshi-kun," she placed her hand on Tenshi's heart. "I will always be there for you. I promise." Tenshi clasped her hands over Neko's. Her eyes shone in the firelight. "I love you so much. I just couldn't stand to be apart from you." Then she said self-consciously, "Forgive me, I must sound like a shojo anime character, ne?" "It's okay, Tenshi-kun. I don't get to play the comforter very often." Usually it was Tenshi (or Mi-chan) protecting and comforting Neko. "Besides you were the one who taught me to have faith in the relationship. But if you don't want to talk about it anymore, we could go back to cuddling." She laid her head on Tenshi's shoulder and closed her eyes again, as Tenshi wrapped her arms around her again. |
