SP2000 Prototype Rebreather

The SP(Sewer Pipe)2000 is the product of many years of inaction which allowed perusal of other's designs, reading thousands of threads on the Rebreather List, hours of wandering in Home Depot, and the dedicated effort to design a rebreather that could be built with hand tools.  Ocean Management Systems has been a kind benefactor to the project.

A bunch of parts pulled from the Recycle Bin turned into a rebreather prototype.  The green and white canister is radial flow scrubber with the white caps acting as access points and water traps. The bellows board has not been installed yet.

Latches have yet to be added on the gray pads.  O2 sensors will be installed in the left cap (inhalation side).

The scrubber is worn low and the gas conduit piping extends up and over the shoulders.

The counterlung are from modified Nalgene water bottles and are constructed of a 3-ply, food-grade, pliable plastic. A hinged bellows board will be attached to the bags.

The lower piping is for exhaust gas and the upper piping is for inhalation.  The fixtures to the left (from bottom to top) are for:
1.   O2 manual add;
2.   Exhalation hose connection;
3.   Adjustable pressure relief valve;
4.   Test port;
5.   Inhalation hose connection; and
6.   Diluent auto add (modified SCUBA 2nd stage).
