The Story behind Santana Rose
CCHRA, Inc. does not get very many registered foals. We have got belgians, 1 breeding stock paint, and 1 QH. One NMF(Nurse Mare Farm) that we deal with had bought a couple of registered QH mares from a boarding stable. These mares were sold due to their owner not paying boarding fees. Both were in foal.
We happened to be at the NMF when someone was there buying a little registered palomino QH colt. I asked if he had anymore palominos. He told us he had a little registered filly. The NMF owner said that it did not matter to him whether his horses were registered or not. He was only interested in leasing nurse mares. Well, when we looked at her, we could not turn her down. She was a scrawny little thing, the color of buttermilk, and only 2 weeks old. Needless to say, along with the other foals that we picked up that day, Santana Rose was one of them. She soon became one of our family. In the picture above, she was 3 weeks old and is now going on 2 years old. Although Santana is a registered QH, she is still an orphan. Now that she is older, she could help make a difference in the lives of many orphan foals. She has good bloodlines. Our hopes for her are to be trained and shown. We are looking for someone with good training and showing abilities that would sponsor Santana. Hopefully compete and win with acknowledgements going to the orphan foals of Kentucky and Casey Creek Horse Rescue and Adoption, Inc. Each month, we will have a different feature adopter. Then, on our anniversary of the newsletter in each December, we will have a special adopter of the year.
