At this time, gradually change to a weanling ration formulated with: 1) grass forages with Gro' N Win and oats, or one of the Grass Plus formulas; or 2) alfalfa forage with Alfa Gro'N Win or Sho'N Win and oats, or one of the Alfa Plus formulas.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS:

As soon as the foal shows an interest in eating dry feed, provide Buckeye Foal Starter. This may be as early as one week of age, and is dependent on how much milk the mare is producing. Buckeye Foal Starter should be the only feed offered from birth to 3 months of age.
If the foal has learned to eat the mare's grain, combine it and Buckeye Foal Starter for a few days. Gradually reduce the amount of mare's grain in the mixture until the foal is eating only the foal starter.
Nursing foals should have free choice access to Buckeye Foal Starter.
If the foal is not hungry for dry feed, Buckeye Foal-Aide, a trace mineral and vitamin drench or paste, can be given to the foal.

The Major Benefits of Buckeye Foal Starter Are:

1) It's formulated for the young foal that is unable to digest high fiber diets.
2) It contains heat processed soybeans and dehulled oats which have been precooked prior to pelleting. This cooking allows the starches to be digested much easier than whole grains.
3) It contains dried whey to aid in the transition from mare's milk to solid feed.
4) It supplies adequate mineral to support sound growth of young equine athletes.

Buckeye Foal Aide This trace mineral and vitamin drench or paste may be given once a day. This should be continued until the foal is consuming 1 pound per 100 pounds of bodyweight of Buckeye Foal Starter. Faster growing foals will require more minerals per day, therefore, growth monitoring is essential. Gro'N Win Growth Charts are available, upon request, to record each foal's growth rate for accurate feeding levels.
