Kingfisher Little League Rules
T-Ball
1. A player cannot obtain an age higher than his age group before January 1, of the current year. Example: 6 year olds cannot turn 7 before January 1 of the current year.
2. Score will not be kept. Scorebooks will not be allowed to be kept by coaches or fans. This is a recreation league where we are trying to teach the players the game of baseball. All players will play in the field, and all players will be in the batting lineup.
3. The number of outs per inning will not need to be kept. All batters will bat once each inning. Once all batters have batted, the inning is over.
4. Bases will be a distance of 70 feet.
5. The batting arc will be located 10 feet from home plate between the foul lines.
6. The field position mark will be an arc located 40 feet from home plate between foul lines.
7. A thrown bat arc will be located 7 feet behind home plate from foul line to foul line.
8. Throwing of bats will not be allowed. Bats thrown outside of the arc around home plate will result in the batter being ruled out and the base runners will be held at their current positions. Bats that are dropped inside the arc and roll outside the arc will not be considered a thrown bat.
9. A catcher's starting position will be designated by a line behind the thrown bat arc. Catcher should be on grass area behind home plate.
10. Games must start with no fewer than eight players.
11. Every child must play both a fielding and batting position in each game.
12. There will not be a maximum number of defensive positions. The team must play with a regulation infield consisting of catcher, pitcher, 1st base, 2nd base, 3rd base and shortstop. All other players must be positioned behind the infield. Infielders must assume a normal playing position, they may not be positioned directly behind the 40-foot arc.
13. All defensive players (excluding catcher) must stay beyond the 40-foot fielding mark until the ball is batted into play.
14. Only 1 defensive player can be within 10ft. of the 40-foot fielding arc and will be required to wear a helmet. NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE.
15. Defensive plays at first base must consist of a thrown ball (with the exception of the first baseman). Example: Balls hit to players other than the first baseman must be thrown, not run, to the first baseman. Defensive plays at other bases may either be thrown or ran. The first baseman may run and tag the base if the ball is hit to him/her and the first baseman makes the fielding play.
16. The pitcher may field a hit ball and tag the batter out if the batter is running towards the pitcher, if the batter has already run past the pitcher on his way to 1st base, the pitcher must throw the ball to the 1st baseman, not run the batter down from behind.
17. Two defensive coaches will be allowed on the field.
18. Three offensive coaches may be used. One batting coach at home plate, one first base coach that stays in the first base side foul territory, and one third base coach that stays in the third base side foul territory. No offensive coach is allowed in the field of play.
19. All players will be placed in the batting order.
20. Runners may not advance on overthrows to any base.
21. Runners may not advance once a fielded ball is thrown to the infield. The "Infield Line" will be designated by an imaginary line between first and second and second and third. Runners one half of the way between bases when the ball crosses the infield line will be allowed to proceed to the next base only.
22. All balls hit in the dirt area will be considered live balls. Defensive players can field a ball in the dirt first and run it to a base other than the first (throwing rule).
23. Batters, base runners, catchers and pitchers must wear batting helmets. Chin straps are advised but not required. If the batter has no chin strap, the helmet should fit snug on player.
24. One offensive coach may assist the batter. Once the ball is in play, the batting coach removes the batting tee and bat from the playing area.
25. The batting coach shall place the ball on the tee. Once the defensive players are ready, the umpire will then announce, "Play Ball".
26. A legal batted ball is one that travels beyond the batting arc and remains past that line and within the foul lines. Base runners advance on legally batted balls.
27. Since there are no strikeouts in T -ball, batters may swing until they are able to place the ball into legal play.
28. An inning will start as soon as the last out or all players have batted for the home team in the previous inning. Each half inning will consist of all players having an at-bat.
29. 1 hour time limit. All batters getting an at-bat each inning. Once all players have batted, that half inning is over. The batting order may be changed from inning to inning, just as long as everybody gets to bat. Please don’t make the same batter bat last each inning. Mix it up.
30. A 9-inch Incrediball will be used. Home team will supply the ball and is responsible for placing the Tee. Last Home team to play for the evening will be required to put Tee away. ALL TEAMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING UP THEIR AREA OF ANY TRASH BEFORE LEAVING (whether someone plays next or not)!
