This lesson is designed to integrate technology and a graphics tablet with the third grade curriculum study of space.
*Students will learn to use the internet to learn about the moon.
*Students will learn to use a graphic tablet to create pictures of the moon.
*Students will write a short essay about living on the moon.

*Students need time to explore and practice using the graphics tablet.
*Students will need directed and instructed on using the webpage.
The third grade teachers will collaborate and integrate technology into the regular science, art, and language arts curriculums.


Students' essays will be collected and evaluated. Students wil be assessed cooperation, spelling, punctuation, and art using a rubric created by the teachers.


Students will have have viewed several videos available from the Educational Service Unit during the previous unit lessons and before creating and writing paragraphs.
Students will individually work to complete a moon mission. The students will pretned that they are scientist who are being sent to live for a year on the moon. Students will use prior knowledge to write a short essay on what they will need, where they live, and what they will do. The teacher will assist and lead students on virtual tours and internet informational sites to enable students access to more pictures and information. Student will create a picture using the graphics tablet depicting what the moon looked like during the year of study.

The teacher will need to instruct students on how to use the graphics tablet software and provide students with practice sessions before requiring a finished product from students.
