About Me
I am an Educator and Researcher by profession.
Current profession: Faculty member (Organic Chemistry) in Applied Chemistry Division of University Dept. of Chemical Technology (UDCT) Mumbai.
Research activities : Major efforts in my research group (AOCL) are directed towards development of pollution control methodologies. In this area pollution prevention (Green Chemistry) is more dear to us rather than pollution treatment. We have been working with the following objectives:
Green methodologies:
1. to prevent/control waste stream of unused reagents/catalysts into drains,
2. to develop harmless solvent systems with low vapour pressure,
3. to develop catalysts capable of substituting traditional Lewis acids,
4. to develop conditions for the use of water as a solvent for organic reactions,
5. to develop supported reactants (supporgents) /catalysts to replace the traditional stoichiometric reagents/catalysts,
6. to develop dry technologies,
7. to use microwaves as energy input device for faster, cleaner reactions.
Organic Synthesis:
8. Synthetic Medicinal Chemistry, Ca-channel blockers,
9. Process Development.

Completed many Sponsored Projects- Many sponsored projects completed successfully, including MHRD, Rs.7.5 lacks on heterogeneous acid catalysis, AICTE Rs.3.5 lacks on Microwave assisted reactions, and
ongoing
BRNS, Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India Rs.15.4 Lakhs on MW assisted rapid Iodine incorporations.

Hobbies-Studying
and practicing Educational psychology, Psychotherapy, Stress
management, etc. are my main hobbies. I enjoy delivering lectures
on Green Chemistry, Teaching Skills, Science- (attitude,
methodology, practice), Novel synthesis methodologies, etc.
Learning and researching about Health, both Mental and Physical,
consumes some time. Travelling, listening to music,
watching TV, reading is my recreation. I enjoy listening to
knowledgeable people from diverse fields. I conduct workshops on
Stress Management, Mind Management, Study skills.
