"THE MOST MOVING, FUNNY, AT TIMES CAUSTIC AND STYLIZED FEELGOOD ROMANTIC DOCUDRAMA OF THE YEAR."

A Message From Graham Smith

Alright here it is:

Hello, this is Graham Smith. The new album from Kleenex Girl Wonder, entitled Smith, presents a new direction in interactive entertainment. You may rightfully recoil in horror and/or disinterest upon first hearing the skits, but I emplore you, in order to fully understand the band's intention with this album, you have to take the album at surface value. The skits are not a hindrance to the music; on the contrary, the skits serve as a break in the action of sorts. Of course, there is also a story to be told. the story itself is not a new concept; other artists have attempted to do this same thing, most notably and recently is Prince Paul on his album A Prince Among Thieves. What sets Smith apart is that it offers a unique view into the actual creation of an album. You get to be in the studio with the artists, you understand what is going on in the artists' lives at the moment of creation. This is a cross-section of a rock album. You view the organs, the blood, and then you view the flesh with a new understanding. So please, do not let the unusual format intimidate you; this is a new sort of album, and it requires a new sort of listening. Of course, you couls always skip the skits and just listen to the songs; they stand on their own as a complete cycle. But there is something new here, waiting to be discovered. And it's your job to put the pieces togeather.

In September of 1998, Graham Smith began work on the follow up to the album Ponyoak. This album tells the story of what happened from then until January 2000...

The first song/single off the Smith the album, Reunited Airlines does the job of geetting the listeners acquainted with the Kleenex Girl Wonder sound and the first interlude gets us acquainted with the Kleenex Girl Wonder sound and the first interlude gets us acquainted with THE PROGRAM. We meet the program when Smith goes online searching for some music applications to help him record his new album, but what he downloads is somethihng much more than a simple music program. It turns out to boe NASA's new top secret crimefighting weapon. At first Smith does not get along with or understand THE PROGRAM but they soon form a partnership where the program helps Smith write songs and Smith helps THE PROGRAM learn and reason on its own. The plot thickens when the program recieves its first assignment, to solve a data thievery ring that is based in Westmont Illinois, town near Downers Grove, the home of Graham Smith and Kleenex Girl Wonder. When Smith hears what he has to do, he is at first enraged that he has to help THE PROGRAM solve this crime but he eventually calms down and accepts his responsibilities. Throughout the next several interludes we meet several important and interesting characters that help form Smith's team including Professor Bordeaux the forensics expert, Steve Jesus the rokie FBI agent and Jenny Flecks the secretary Smith brings in from ManPower. With this assembled team, Smith and THE PROGRAM head out after criminals they are assigned to track down. Along the way they meet many obsticles, record many fine songs and deal with many of the problems of every day life.

This entire adventure seems to take an affect on Smith quite a bit musically. Tha album has more creative/experimental sound to it. Like the song Do You Want Me?, that uses many analog keyboards and robot vocals. We also have many more electronic sounding tunes due to the fact that a lot of this album was written by a computer program. Smith and THE PROGRAM also show that they can hurt on this album, with the song I Never Asked You To Cry. This one comes right after Nadia, the Russian KGB agent, dies at the waterfront. The last song on the album Autumn Sonata brings this, over an hour long story to a triumphant climax in the most emotional and spectacular Kleenex Girl Wonder song to date. All in all many moods are felt and many different sounds are heard. "Smith" the album is testament that one can survive and thrive in a world of constant change, diversity and hardship.

Special Thanks to all of the musical instruments and electonic devices with which I maintained intimate, nurturing relationships during the making of hthis 2 X CD. Y'all always be my instruments.

Special Thanks to the programmers and radio stations for believing in my music and supporting me. And of course our transglobal network of unhealthily obsessed fans. Thanks for keeping it positive.
