Tico Torres

Hector Torres was born on September 7th, 1953.
Born to Cuban parents, Torres lived with them in Varadero, Cuba.
Before returning to the United States, he absorbed the Cuban sounds and flavors that influence his music and art today.
Tico´s mother is named Emma and his dad Hector.
Tico grew up in Iselin, NJ, but he was born in New York City.
Tico's mother remarried on 1967 with Lennord and they had a son called Andrew. His father lives in the southern part of the United States where he remarried years ago and has several children from that marriage. Tico 'The Hitman' Torres had second thoughts in the beginning about forming a band around the young Jon Bon Jovi.
Tico was skeptical. "Jon was raw, definitely unpolished," he says. "He was only 21. I'd jammed with Miles Davis, I played live with the Marvelettes and Chuck Berry. I'd played on about 26 records. I'd just recorded my third album with Franke and the Knockouts" (a Jersey band with hit singles in the early '80s) "But Alec and I had played in bands together since we were kids. and he asked me to check Jon out. What really convinced me was watching Jon perform.
The reaction from the kids, especially the girls, was over whelming. They saw this young god, running around the stage, shaking his ass. So I said 'take the gamble and go for it. The pay was two hundred a week or some shit. I'd bought a house, I figured I'd pay the mortgage with money I put away." Jon recalls: " I remember coming down to his club one night and seeing this wild black drum kit onstage, and I knew I wouldn't like the man playing the drums.
Then this wild Cuban came out and banged out a fierce beat and I knew I could never play with anyone else but Tico. Before joining Jon and the band Tico had already played in bands like: Phanton's Opera ( where he met Alec John Such ) and Franke & The Knockouts.
Tico Torres married Eva Herzigova, an incredible beautiful model from the former Czechoslovakia in Sea Bright, New Jersey  on September 7, 1996. The ceremony was attended by their closest friends and family including the members of Bon Jovi.Jon and the boys serenaded Eva and her hubbie with Always during the dance. There were many famous guests at the reception including the Trumps, Helena Christenson... This was Tico's second marriage and Eva's first. Unfortunately, Tico and Eva divorced eraly this year. The reason was that they could hardly see each other, due to her hectic modelling schedule.
'Wanted: dead or alive' is Tico Torres's favorite Bon Jovi song. "That song perfectly describes the true story to the band. I can't listen to the songs of the early days any more though, I guess that's something that every Musician has though." Not only as a drummer Tico Torres flies high. He also has an official Pilot's licence. Tico also paints and has already exhibited his works in many art galleries around the world. Tico debuted his work at the Ambassador Galleries in SoHo, New York City where he received much critical acclaim. His second exhibit opened in the Fall of 1995 at Steiner Gallery in Bal Harbour, Florida. He also had an exhibit at Sunset in Henderson, Nevada which opened February 28, 1996. Other supporters of Tico's art work include Cleveland, Ohio's Art Avenue Galleries and Palm Beach Florida's Frankel collection. Tico has received rave reviews and requests for shows all around the globe. In London, England in the summer of 1996, (July 5 ) he celebrated at the Restaurant Benihana where they promoted and displayed his work.
