Kidnapped, part 3

As soon as it looks like Torden is really and truely asleep, Jaelyn waits just a bit longer, then stumbles to her feet, making her way over to where Sloane is passed out as quietly as possible. Wrinkling her nose a bit at the vomit, she nudges him with her toe, casting a worried glance at Torden before nudging Sloane again a bit harder, fighting to keep her balance with her hands secured behind her.

Sloane groans softly in his sleep as Jaelyn pokes him with that sharp toe. Finally, his eyes flicker open. The look of confusion on his face slowly drains away. Very slowly, he sits up, though a bit unsteadily. Very softly, he whispers the stupidest question that comes to mind,'Are you all right?'

Jaelyn looks about ready to spit nails at the question, but shockingly enough, doesn't pout, sulk, or do anything twit-ish, instead merely gives a curt nod and, after glancing briefly towards Torden, she asks, 'Can you stand?' Frowning, she twists her hands behind her, glancing off towards the horses, but saying nothing else just yet.

Sloane shrugs slightly at the question and pulls his feet beneath him. Slowly and unsteadily, he clambers to his feet, only through the blindest of luck managing not to fall again. He grits his teeth in a very pained expression for a moment before his face goes slack and eyes emotionless. He swallows hard once and says to Jaelyn in a flat whisper,'Apparently.'

Jaelyn nods and bites her lip briefly, then sits down on one of the logs off to one side, twisting her hands behind her again and wiggling arms down, doing some weird looking contortions to get her hands in front of her with more than one grimace and painful wince. 'Do you think you could ride?' she asks, shivering slightly after glancing down at her wrists, but pointedly looking anywhere else but down at them again as she stands back up again.

Sloane frowns slightly as he turns to study the horses. Turning back to her, he bends down slightly, keeping his voice low still, and says to her,'I don't really need my hands to ride.. but I don't think I can get onto a horse without them.'

Jaelyn licks her lips nervously, casting a quick glance around the small campsite, 'Any other ideas would be quite welcome..' she says in a wavering whisper, reaching up akwardly to brush some strands of hair back from her face.

Sloane shrugs as much as he can with his arms restrained and whispers back,'I can try it. We can't just do nothing.' He frowns deeply and adds in that same hoarse whisper,'Can you get us free of these bonds once we get far enough away?'

Sloane mutters under his breath,'That wasn't very encouraging.' Then he begins picking his way along behind her as steadily as he can, which isn't very.

As Jaelyn crosses over the threshold of Torden's invisible warding, a shrieking whistle erupts from nowhere. The sleeping man jerks alert and seizes saidin. He blinks and rubs the sleep away from his eyes and then uses simple flows of Air to try and trip his prisoners.

'Would you rather I lie?' Jaelyn hisses back, then gives a startled cry as the ward gets triggered and trips, dropping to the ground in a heap.

Sloane opens his mouth to respond, quite scathingly from the expression on his face, when the whistling sounds and Jaelyn trips before him. Without the use of his hands to balance him, he goes down quite easily as well, managing to twist slightly as he falls so that he lands on his right shoulder with a startled yelp.

Torden unravels the protective barrier he set around himself before sleeping and rises to his feet. He moves towards you both, shaking his head. He sighs and asks of you both in sleepy tones, 'What did either of you think to accomplish by attempting to escape ?'

Jaelyn snatches up a rock and pitches it at Torden's head as hard as she can, scrambling back to her feet and ducking off into the brush.

Sloane doesn't reply at all, just gasps for air. The wind was apparently knocked from him by his fall.

Torden deftly catches the projectile with a flow of Air and idly crumbles it to dust with a few choice flows of Earth. Using Air again, he tries to loop it around one of Jaelyn's ankles as she dodges in to the brush, to halt her progress. Turning away from the woman briefly, he crouches down and grabs one of the man's upper arms and tries to wrench him to his feet.

Jaelyn crashes flat as Torden's weaves catch her ankle, an audible crack snapping through the air and a painful scream coming from Jaelyn.

Sloane manages to make it to his feet with the other man's "help." He is still very audibly gasping for breath, though. At the sound of Jaelyn's scream, his head snaps up in that direction and he takes an unconscious step forward.

Torden grunts at Sloane and roughly sweeps at his ankles with his left foot and gives him a hard shove to try and send him back to the ground before turning to Jaelyn and looping another flow of Air around the other ankle and attempts to hoist the girl up off the ground and in to the air, upside down by her ankles.

Jaelyn claws briefly at the ground as she's dragged upwards, her hands pressing into her inverting skirts to at least attempt a chance at some sort of decency, another painfilled cry escaping her before she clenches her jaw shut tightly, tears trickling down her cheeks.

Sloane goes down hard, landing on his left shoulder this time. The soft grunt he makes is likely drowned out by the impact with the ground. He lays there for a moment, still trying to recover his breath.

Torden swings the girl by her ankles a bit and then releases her, trying to lessen the changes of her landing badly on her neck and breaking it. Turning to Sloane, he offers him a swift kick in the gut with the toe of his right foot and then takes a step back and shakes his head at you both, muttering, 'Maybe that will take some of the fight out of you both.'

Jaelyn lands rather hard, curling up and wrapping her elbows around her knees, stifling a sob as she rolls to a stop, keeping herself in a fetal position as tightly as possible.

Sloane oophs loudly as he catches the boot in the midsection. Lacking the wind for any further noise, he curls up into a ball and begins to dry heave.

Torden eyes you both and sighs loudly and shakes his head. Turning his back on you both briefly, he retakes his seat near the fire and weaves a few flows of Fire and knots in such a way as to produce flames, without actually needing fuel. He sighs again at the sigh of you both and shakes his head muttering, 'What shall I do with you...'

Jaelyn just curls up tighter about her wounded ankle, shoulders shaking in silent sobs and her breath hissing quietly through clenched teeth.

Sloane finally catches his breath enough to speak. With a tone that carries much more hysteria than actual humor, he says,'Letting us go would work..'

Torden and replies sarcastically, 'Oh yes, so that you can send the whole bloody Tower down my Light-forsaken throat . That sounds like a grand plan, m'boy.' Rolling his eyes, he turns his attention to the girl and asks, 'Any pearls of great Aes Sedai wisdom to add to that ?'

Jaelyn just shivers and pulls more tightly into herself, not giving any sign of hearing the question at all.

Sloane takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly. After that, he sounds a bit calmer when he speaks,'May I check on her?'

Torden nods at Sloane and grunts warningly, 'Nothing foolish.' Unravelling the flows restricting the man's arms, his gaze watches him like a hawk's, holding flows of Air ready to subdue the lad if he gets any bright ideas.

Sloane nods very slowly and rubs his arms to restore circulation as soon as they are released. Slowly, he clambers to his feet and moves over near Jaelyn, kneeling at her side. He winces visibly when he glances down at her feet. Reaching out very tentatively, he pats her in a vaguely reassuring manner on the shoulder and asks softly,'Are you hurt somewhere other than your ankle?'

Jaelyn shakes her head a bit at Sloane's question, hissing out softly through gritted teeth, 'Nothing worse than bruises and scrapes anyway.' Her jaw remains clenched tightly and she shows no sign of uncurling at all.

Torden grimaces and shakes his head, muttering quietly while all the while still keeping his eyes keenly fixed on Sloane, 'Perhaps your injuries with hinder your escape efforts for the rest of the night ?' Quirking an eyebrow, he briefly looks to the East and then back at you in a significant manner, the pre-glow of dawn nowhere near coming in to existence.

Sloane turns towards Torden and says,'I need to set her ankle. You can probably see from there that it is broken.' He takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly, a shudder passing through him before he continues,'I will not make a break for it. For one thing, I have no idea where I am. For another, I wouldn't leave her. I doubt you'll give me a knife, but I think I can break off sticks large enough to use.' Then he waits, almost calmly, for an answer.

For a moment, it looks like Jaelyn may say something, but with a soft hiss of breath, she seems to change her mind, shivering a bit again.

Torden grunts and uses a single flow of Air to deliver a sharp blow to the back of Sloane's head, almost in the same spot as before. Rising, he walks over to the prone girls and weaves flows of Spirit, Air, and Water and begins probing her injuries, immobilizing her with more bounds of Air.

Sloane crumples to the ground when the blow strikes his head. Luckily, he was facing Torden at the time and thus falls away from Jaelyn.

A painful scream is torn from Jaelyn as her ankle is moved, more than a bit of panic touching the sound as well, but she bites it off as quickly as possible, sinking her teeth into her lip and almost, but not quite, drawing blood.

Torden's weave sends intense pain and cold throughout Jaelyn's body as he coerces it body in to Healing itself, using simple flows of Earth to move the bones of her ankle back in to their proper alignments before goading the flesh in to meshing together once more.

Jaelyn's head snaps back at the onslaught of the weave, screaming again and this time making no attempt to choke it back.

Torden sighs and releases the healing weave, shaking his head tiredly. Turning towards the girl's head, he begins contorting a complex construct of Spirit and directs it towards her mind, trying to open it to suggestion. Sweat runs down his grubby face as he does this, all the channeling he has been doing starting to catch up with him.

Jaelyn tugs at the invisible bonds, screaming again, although this time in more fear and frustration than anything else, tears still slipping down her cheeks as she shakes her head wildly.

Torden grimaces and increases his grip on the Source, doubling it and thus intensifying his flows of Spirit. Sweat flows freely and he deftly manipulates the strands to coax Jaelyn in to a near daydream-like state, opening her mind to suggestion.

Jaelyn's eyes roll back in her head a bit and she starts to drool.

Torden sighs as he finally gauges his weave to have produced the desired effect. He licks his lips and says quietly, 'Now then, don't you think it would be foolish to use the One Power to try and get out of this situation, especially since I've proven that you're no match for me ?' He stares hard at the girl, almost trying to will a response from her.

Jaelyn whimpers softly, still twisting uselessly against the Air bonds, but she does nod.

Torden murmurs softly, 'There's no real use struggling against your restraints, is there ? There's no way you could break then, and trying to channel yourself free would be useless, wouldn't it ? Why, you don't even know where you are, do you ? It would be foolhardy indeed to try to escape at all, wouldn't it ? Much simpler, and safer to just wait this out and see where I'm taking you, hmm ?

Jaelyn's struggles slowly weaken as she just nods dumbly, sobbing quietly to herself.

Torden slowly lets the Compulsion weave dissipate and rises. He unknots the Shield and lets it vanish, as well as the rest of his weavings. He sighs and shakes his head and lies down on his bedroll. Before closing his eyes, his weaves a simple barrier to protect him against physical attack, tying it off neatly. He then pushes the Source away and tries to get some sleep.

Jaelyn curls back up into a fetal position as soon as the weaves are released, sobbing still as she wraps her arms about herself.
