Kaith Gives Andruq

Sad News

Andruq strides into the room was a blank look on his face, as usual. He glances around the room once before saluting with a fist pressed to his chest. "You sent for me, Asha'man Athanes?" he asks.

Kaith doesn't look up from what he is doing. He gestures towards the very comfortable looking chair across the room and says,'Be seated, Tellanin. I will be with you in a moment.'

Andruq nods silently before walking over to the chair. He sits on it and nods at the chair. "Nice," he says quietly.

Kaith dips his pin in the inkwell, and continues writing something in a leather-bound ledger. Without looking up he says,'Is Tellanin a common name in Altara?'

Andruq shrugs. "Not really sure," he says. "I haven't really been around Altara much. I mostly stayed at my village and left only once in a while for errands, mostly. Why do you ask?"

Kaith stabs the pen back into the inkwell and looks up at Andruq. He arches an eyebrow as he considers the man for a moment, then looks back at the ledger in which he was writing. He reaches across the desk for the sand pot and uncorks it. As he sprinkles sand lightly over the paper, he asks casually,'Are you familiar with someone named Hile?'

Andruq frowns as he hears the name. "Yes. That is the name of a cousin of mine," he says. "Well, the name of my only cousin." He pauses and a look of concern appears on his face. "Did something happen to him?"

Kaith sets the sand pot down and tilts the book up to let the sand run off the paper back into the pot. After he recorks the sand pot, he blows lightly on the page before turning back to face Andruq again,'Well. There is no good way of telling you this, then. So I will just be blunt. He is dead.' He gestures at the drying ledger page and adds,'Rather gruesomely from what I am told.' His eyes fix on Andruq the Dedicated now as he waits for a reaction.

Andruq looks down at the ground as he hears the news, the blank look on his face returning to it. "I see," he says after a moment's silence. "We were good friends. So I won't be seeing the big dumb oaf again." He shakes his head sadly, his eyes filling with tears that he fights against. "How did he die?" he asks in an emotionless voice after assuming the Void.

Kaith glances back down at the report and shudders slightly. He looks back up and says in a sickened tone of voice,'Messily. All indications are that he was killed by a channeler. A man.' He picks up a sheet of vellum from the table and stands. He walks across the room and hands it to Andruq. He turns away and walks to the end of the bed. Bending down, he opens the steamer trunk and removes a bottle of wine from it. He carries it in his left hand as he moves to the cabinet on the west wall, allowing time for Andruq to read the paper. As he opens the cabinet and reaches for a glass, he asks,'Join me in a glass of wine?'

Andruq nods sullenly as he reads the sheet. "Wine would be nice," he says in that emotionless voice of his. "A male channeler? One of the Asha'man?"

Kaith takes two glasses from the cabinet and closes it. He places the glasses on the table and fills them both, then corks the wine bottle. He picks up both glasses and takes a sip from one of them, as if to prove it is safe, then he walks over and hands the other to Andruq. He shakes his head slightly and says,'No, not one of the Asha'man. Read that paper I handed you. It is a description of the man responsible.'

Andruq takes the glass and holds it as he reads the paper. "Well, well, well," he says after reading the description. "I think I've seen this man." He raises the glass to his lips and takes a small sip. "In the Oval, once, I think."

Kaith arches an eyebrow questioningly and takes another sip of his wine. His brows furrow in thought for a moment and he asks,'Happen to know his name? Oh, and there were other people around, as well. This rogue channeler had some underlings. No real description of them because they were cloaked and hooded and such.... but how hard can it be to spot a man of Aiel proportions carrying a sword?'

Andruq shakes his head. "I don't know his name," he lies. "A man of Aiel proportions... I'll keep that in mind." He takes another sip from the glass. "Are there any remains of Hile?"

Kaith nods slowly,'As per the notice I posted at the farmhouse, do not attempt to apprehend this man on your own. If you spot him, get at least one other person to help you before you attempt to apprehend him.' He fixes Andruq with a hard, commanding gaze and asks,'Understood?'

Andruq nods as he stands up. "Understood, Asha'man," he says. "Is there anything else you wanted?" He raises the glass again and drains the rest of the wine out of it.

Kaith shakes his head,'No, Dedicated. The name just caught my attention. I thought it would be of personal interest to you. You are dismissed.' He sips his wine and moves back towards his desk, his posture indicating that he assumes the man will leave.

Andruq nods as he places the paper and the glass on Kaith's desk. "Thank you for the wine, Asha'man," he says sullenly. "Light illumine." He opens the door and steps out quietly, making no noise at all.
