| Aissa shivered in the sudden cold as her nice, warm, and oh-so-comfortable bedsheets were drawn away from the bed and tossed haphazardly on the floor of her room. She curled up in a ball, teeth chattering in her skull, and opened one hazel-brown eye to glare up at the girl standing over her bed, hands on her hips as she stared down at Aissa imperiously. Aileeya, her roommate,-who also happened to be her half sister-sighed and glared down at her with disgust. "Honestly, Aissa, it's nearly midday already! Could you possibly sleep in any later?" Aileeya said in exasperation. "If you hadn't so rudely woken me up, I could have tried." Aissa growled back at her. Aileeya just rolled her eyes again at her younger sister and walked towards the door, stopping in the threshold to turn back to Aissa. "Just because you were up way too late last night playing with a fardling canine doesn't mean you're excused from lessons because you slept in. Master Harken will have your head if you skip again." She said before walking off. Aissa might as well have not heard the last part of her sister's warning, for her eyes had lit up at the mention of the black-and-white canine puppy that had been her birthingday gift from her parents, just yesterday evening. The eleven-turn-old girl had instantly fallen in love with the female pup, which she had named Phenreyr. Aissa jumped out of bed at once, hurried into clean clothes and ran a brush through her curly, dark brown hair a few times before dashing out into the hallways. She quite nearly knocked a couple people to the ground in her haste to get to the kennel where her new pet had spent the night. A few of the older canines looked up as she entered, but most ignored her. She quickly made her way to the back, where Phenreyr had instantly perked up at the sound of her approach, and was whining eagerly at the door of her cage. Aissa smiled, unlatched the door, and picked the black-and-white husky up in her arms. "Hello, Phenreyr! How are you, girl, were you lonely here without me?" She cooed as she rubbed her hands under the pup's chin. Phenreyr's tail wagged as she reached up, trying to lick the girl's face as Aissa laughed. Behind them, neither of them noticed someone roll their eyes. Phenreyr whined, and Aissa set the canine on the floor, where she ran around sniffing everything. She blinked and looked up at another human leaning against the doorframe and barked. Aissa turned, to see Aileeya watching her and Phenreyr. The older girl rolled her eyes and sighed. "It figures this is the first place you'd come." She said. "Maybe I should start using canines to wake you up, perhaps then you'll actually wake up on time for once. You know, if you don't get to Master Harken's class, right now, Phenreyr will have to play with someone else. Or whatever parts of you we'll be able to find, maybe." That made Aissa gasp, and she gave one last, goodbye hug to Phenreyr, saying, "You be good now, you hear? I'll be back soon." as Aileeya fought the urge to roll her eyes again. And Aissa raced to her class, where the old Master gave her a stern look and an even sterner lecture before he began the lessons. And Aissa's mind was still on a small, black-and-white puppy. |
