He started out with Ajax (his only previous club) where he was a key member of the Amsterdam club�s all-conquering team of the mid-nineties. A Dutch international and a true modern in his interpretation of the goalkeeper�s art, Van der Sar even scored a penalty during the 1997/98 season. He is the first non-Italian goalkeeper in Juventus� history.
His hobbies include golf and playing cards. His favourite food is pasta. He enjoys going to the pictures - his favourite actor is Harrison Ford and favourite actress is Meg Ryan.
