Juventus has bought 20-year old midfielder Stefano Morrone of Cosenza in
joint ownership for 2.5 billion lire. Morrone will finish the season with
Cosenza and join Juventus next season. Fiorentina, Lazio, Atletico Madrid,
and Empoli were also after Morrone.
Luciano Moggi met with Perugia officials to discuss Fabio Pecchia's transfer.
Empoli is still after Marcelo Zalayeta.
Juventus, according to Norwegian daily Dagbladet, is after 19-year old
forward John Carew of Vaalerengen Oslo and of the Under-21 Norwegian
National team. Carew has scored 9 goals in 9 games with the National side,
including 6 in 2 games against Slovenia and Albania. Carew, a mulatto
(father from Gambia and mother from Norway), is 193 cm. tall, weights 86
kg., A Juve scout is expected for the match between Vaalerenger and
Tromsoe. Carew also scored 2 goals that contributed to his team's
qualification in the second round of the Cup Winners' Cup against Rapid
Bucharest. Carew, already nicknamed Norway's Weah, has scored 14 goals in
the last 26 matches in league play. His coach with the National team, Bjorn
Jansen, considers him better than Tore Andre Flo and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Teams such as Blackburn Rovers, Inter, Milan, and Fiorentina are also after
the player, whose value is 70 million kroner (15 billion lire).
