Darko Kovacevic arrived yesterday evening in Turin on a private jet. He
will have a press conference today and probably meet Umberto Agnelli.
Tonight, he will fly back to San Sebasti�n. Kovacevic, paid Lit 35 billion
[�18 million; $21 million], signed a 4-year contract worth Lit 3 billion
[�1.5 million; $1.8 million] per season. Real Sociedad president Luis
Uranga flew with Kovacevic.
Mark Iuliano, on vacation in Tuscany and reached on his cellular phone,
denied a move to Liverpool, saying that it's still too early in his career
to move outside of Italy and that Juve officials told him to join the rest
of the team July 1st for summer training. If Iuliano leaves, names
mentioned to replace him are Gamarra (although he looks headed to one of
Madrid's teams), Sol Campbell, and Lorenzo Amoruso. Paolo Vanoli is still
one of Juve's targets, although his acquisition doesn't have anything to do
with Iuliano.
Monaco and Chelsea each offered Lit 5 billion [�2.6 million; $3 million]
for Didier Deschamps, but Juve wants twice as much. To replace, Juve will
have to choose between Flavio Concei�ao and Giuliano Giannichedda.
Concei�ao's price is Lit 60 billion [�30 million; $36 million], while the
latter's is only half. Other players are Luigi Di Biagio and Alain Boghossian.
It seems that Juve had first offered Angelo Di Livio a contract extension,
then refused to give it to him and tried to unload him to Fiorentina. Di
Livio, who is leaving for Sardinia, will have to wait until Fiorentina
finalizes the transfer for Enrico Chiesa before concluding his.
Yesterday, Luciano Moggi met with Bari GM Regalia to discuss the transfer
of Simone Perrotta. The two will meet again next week.
Although recent rumors said that Alessandro Del Piero was supposed to sign
his new contract in a matter of hours, his agents said that there's nothing
new. A decision should be made by the end of the week. In Juve's latest
offer, Del Piero would earn Lit 9.5 billion [�4.9 million; $5.7 million]
per season for 5 years, he would keep his current personal contracts
(Adidas, Pepsi, etc.), and will earn a small percentage for each new
contract that Juve will offer him through its sponsors.
Juve is still looking for a fourth striker (in addition to Del Piero,
Kovacevic, and Filippo Inzaghi): the choice is between Marco Simone and
Milan Rapaic. Simone's value is Lit 7 billion [�3.6 million; $4.2 million],
but has also an offer from Fiorentina. Rapaic is sought by Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, Juve will try to unload Nicola Amoruso and Daniel Fonseca. The
latter was offered to PAOK Thessalon�ki. Juve will also offer the following
players to PAOK on loan: O'Brien, Marco Rigoni, Cesar Pellegrin, and
Marcelo Zalayeta.
Juve will make a final attempt at Clarence Seedorf, after the player had a
disagreement with his coach, John Toshack, after he was subbed in the match
against Atletico Madrid. Inter and Lazio are also after Seedorf, whose
price is Lit 45 billion [�23 million; $27 million].
