PEOPLE BELIEVED IN YOU.
"We were convinced that we could do well because we are complementar and
because we are friends. Day after day, we learned to play with each other.
It is thanks to Zoff who gave us this chance."
THE FIRST HALF AGAINST WALES MIGHT REVOLUTIONIZE THE NATIONAL TEAM. NO
FANTASISTI: TWO STRIKERS WORK WELL.
"This National team has a wide choice up front. I think of Montella,
Chiesa, Del Piero, Totti, Baggio. I don't know what the future holds, but
it will have positive results."
A YEAR AGO, IN THE WORLD CUP, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME DUO UP FRONT.
"It could have been, if I had been given a chance. It's useless to say that
I felt awesome at the time and that I could have helped Italy, it's useless
to say that I respect the choices made by Maldini. Now, that I finally
crowned my "Azzurro" dream, I'm happy."
INZAGHI AND VIERI: DOES FRIENDSHIP HELP SCORE?
"We were born to score: every time we set foot on the pitch we look for the
goal. When we play together, the objective is different: help score the
other one. In fact, Bobo, right after he scored, told me: now it's your turn."
WHY DOES VIERI ALWAYS CHANGE CITY?
(smiles) "Because he wants to play with me and tries to go where I go..."
BUT YOU ARE STABLE: JUVENTUS AND THAT'S IT.
"I don't know why Bobo changes so often, I can't get into his head and it's
not right to do so. But I feel that it's normal, considering his current
position: Cragnotti says that he can be sold and that great teams are after
him..."
ARE YOU READY TO SIGN YOUR NEW CONTRACT?
"I hope it happens soon: the meeting is for next week. But..."
BUT...?
"During the past few days, I read stuff that I didn't like. People say that
Juve has offered me to other clubs: I'm sure it's not like this, but, if it
were, I could leave by myself."
DON'T YOU LIKE BEING USED AS TRADE BAIT?
"No, especially after scoring 50 goals in two seasons. I told my agent to
investigate on the matter: if it's true, then I'll make drastic choices.
Juve managers were always very fair to me and I expect them to continue
doing so."
IF VIERI STAYS IN ROME, HE WILL PLAY ALONGSIDE YOUR BROTHER SIMONE.
"They are too good: I'm already worried."
IT'S BETTER IF LAZIO SELLS VIERI.
"It's better, yes."
