During the press conference where Edwin Van der Sar and Gianluca Zambrotta
were presented, Roberto Bettega said that Lazio offered Juventus Christian
Vieri for Alessandro Del Piero. Sergio Cragnotti denied this. Rumors were
started when Juve supposedly offered Del Piero for Vieri. Tuttosport asks
its readers what they think about this trade (although they think Juve's
real interest is Marcelo Salas): would you do it or no? E-mail Tuttosport

With the arrivals of Van der Sar and Zambrotta, Juve is looking for a new
midfielder and might use Didier Deschamps as trade bait for Martin Djetou
[Monaco] and Flavio Conceiao [Deportivo La Corua]. Fiorentina is also
interested in Deschamps, but Did has said that he won't play for another
Italian team. Juve is also interested in Jonathan Bachini [Udinese] and
Clarence Seedorf [Real Madrid], although Lazio has offered Pavel Nedved for
the Dutchman. Juve refused to swap Seedorf with Paolo Montero and would
prefer to give Zinedine Zidane.
Meanwhile, Angelo Peruzzi has reportedly asked Inter for a 4-year contract
worth Lit 5 billion [2.6 million; $3 million] per season.
Although Michelangelo Rampulla was confirmed for next season, Juve is
probably looking for someone to replace its aging goalkeeper: Fabrizio
Ferron [Sampdoria] is the likely choice.
Alessandro Birindelli and probably Mark Iuliano are set to leave.
For the offensive part, Juan Eduardo Esnaider will remain, while Daniel
Fonseca (to Spain) and Nicola Amoruso (to Bologna) are leaving. Juve would
replace them with Roberto Muzzi [Cagliari] and Milan Rapaic [Perugia].
Atletico Madrid, probably losing in the Martin Palermo [Boca Juniors]
sweepstakes, has set its sights on Darko Kovacevic [Real Sociedad], a
player being followed by Juve.
