Tuttosport 27/05/99
According to Tuttosport, Alessandro Del Piero's agents, Claudio Pasqualin
and Andrea D'Amico, will meet Luciano Moggi next Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Juventus will offer Cagliari Lit 20 billion [10 million; $12
million] for Roberto Muzzi.
Right after the play-off series against Udinese, Juve managers will go to
Spain to close out for Darko Kovacevic, offering Lit 30 billion [15
million; $18 million] to Real Sociedad.
Juve is still interested in Milan Rapaic [Perugia], the only problem is
that Carlo Ancelotti has already 3 wingers (Angelo Di Livio, Thierry Henry,
Gianluca Zambrotta). Perugia president Luciano Gaucci wants Lit 30 billion
for Rapaic or both Nicola Amoruso and Alessandro Birindelli.
Roberto Bettega is supposed to fly to Argentina next week to try to
convince Walter Samuel [Boca Juniors] not to go to Roma. Bettega might even
try to get Martin Palermo. Bettega should then go to Brazil for Gamarra
[Corinthians] and left fullback Silvino.
Juve told Didier Deschamps to think about remaining, giving a week to let
his decision known. If Deschamps decideds to go, Juve will go after either
Flavio Conceiao [Deportivo La Corua] or Dino Baggio [Parma].
Rumors about a possible return by Christian Vieri are supposedly false,
since Juve and Lazio are probably making another deal: Alessio Tacchinardi
+ Lit 20 billion for Marcelo Salas.
Edgar Davids has received a salary raise and will remain with Juve next
season.
If Pescara gets promoted to Serie A, Juve will loan it Morgan De Sanctis.
Juventus has told the press that it is Angelo Peruzzi who asked to leave.
Peruzzi will go to Inter for Lit 26 billion [13 million; $16 million]. The
only problem with his transfer is that Gianluca Pagliuca wants to stay at
Inter.
Juve will get, for the first time in its 102-year history, a foreign
goalkeeper: it's Edwin Van der Sar [Ajax], who will come in exchange for
Lit 18 million [9 million; $11 million]. It seems that Davids had a big
part in getting the deal done. BTW, Davids missed yesterday's training
session for personal reasons.
Juve's choice on Van der Sar came after evaluating Fabien Barthez [Monaco],
Matteo Sereni [Empoli], and Alessio Scarpi [Cagliari].
Although Michelangelo Rampulla has recently signed a contract extension,
Juve will probably convince him to retire and offer him a desk job, while
getting Fabrizio Ferron [Sampdoria] as Van der Sar's backup.
Filippo Inzaghi said that it's payback time, since Juve lost Del Piero in
the match in Udine and its season became worse and worse ever since.
Inzaghi will team up with Amoruso, while Gianluca Pessotto will replace
Zoran Mirkovic. Tacchinardi will take Deschamps' place.
Tickets for Juventus-Udinese are now on sale, with the prices the same as
in the regular season. The match will be broadcasted live by Tele+.
Udinese will play Paolo Poggi with scoring champion Marcio Amoroso. Udinese
will be without Regis Genaux, Johan Walem, and Jonathan Bachini. So far,
only 4,000 tickets have been sold for tomorrow's game in Udine.
This is a recap of Juve's market strategies:
