As of now, Juve's only sure buys for next season are 22-year old midfielder
Gianluca Zambrotta [Bari] and 20-year old defender Pierre Giorgio Regonesi
[Atalanta]. Obviously, Juve's market is far from over. Carlo Ancelotti has
specifically asked for 27-year old midfielder Dino Baggio [Parma] and
defender Samuel [Boca Juniors], who Ancelotti saw on TV last Friday against
Racing Avellaneda.
The interest in defender Michel Salgado has waned down, but there are hopes
of obtaining defender Felipe [Vasco da Gama] and 27-year old defender
Lilian Thuram [Parma], although it's very difficult that Stefano Tanzi will
let the Frenchman go too.
Even though he has a contract until 2003, Angelo Peruzzi has always said
that he plans to retire from soccer before that date, and Juve is preparing
itself for a change in the 2000-01 season by contacting 29-year old Luigi
Turci [Udinese] and 26-year old Alessio Scarpi [Cagliari].
INFIRMARY REPORT: Peruzzi's left knee is still banged up and he's doubtful
for Sunday. The only way to fully recover is to have surgery, but
"Cinghialone" plans to do so in the offseason. Juan Eduardo Esnaider will
have very soon surgery on his Achilles' heel. Paolo Montero suffers from
neuritis on his right thigh and is doubtful for the match against Salernitana.
