According to La Stampa there is a strong possibility of a swap between Inter and Juventus involving Alessandro Del Piero and Ronaldo. Juve is unhappy with the way Del Piero's agents are conducting negotiations for the contract renewal, while Ronaldo, who publicly criticized Inter and its players for the awful season, has most of the team against him.
Juventus is willing to accept Ronaldo's contract [Lit. 7 billion (� 3.6 million; $ 4.2 million) yearly until 2003 with an option for five more years], since Del Piero is asking for at least Lit. 10 billion (� 5.2 million; $ 6 million) per season.
Del Piero would play alongside Nicola Ventola for an all-Italian attack, since Inter is expected to sell both Roberto Baggio and Youri Djorkaeff. Ronaldo, on the other hand, could play next to Filippo Inzaghi with Zinedine Zidane behind them, or with Zidane playing in a role similar to the one he played against Manchester United. But in this case, Inzaghi will probably be sold.
