Zinedine Zidane says that he will leave Juventus since his wife Vronique doesn't like Turin and Italy. Since Zidane has always said that his family comes first, he will try to satisfy her by moving possibly to Spain, where his wife comes from.
Not many Spanish can afford Zizou's price tag (Lit. 50
billion; 26 million; $ 30 million): Barcelona has already players such as Rivaldo and Jari Litmanen, Atletico Madrid has money, but has a crazy
president in Jesus Gil y Gil, Real Madrid is broke (although it can sell
expensive players such as Roberto Carlos and Clarence Seedorf), and the
only other team looks like Betis Seville. Betis owns already the most
expensive player on earth (Denilson, paid Lit. 70 billion lire = 36
million = $ 42 milllion) and is trying to obtain Fabio Capello as head
coach. Zidane said that he is not interested in more money (his current
yearly salary is Lit. 3.2 billion = 1.6 million = $ 1.9 million), but
only in his wife's happiness.
Luciano Moggi said that Zizou will play for Juve next year and that the
signature on the contract is not Vronique's.
Antonio Conte has seen his request for a salary raise being denied. Conte,
whose contract ends in the year 2000, has offers from Roma, Derby County,
and Liverpool.
Angelo Di Livio will receive a 1-year extension to his contract.
Fullback Felipe said that, if he leaves Vasco da Gama, he will go to Juventus.
Filippo Inzaghi will wear Andrea Tafi's #17 under his jersey against Roma.
Tafi recently won the world-famous bike race Paris-Roubaix and is a
die-hard Juve fan.
Paolo Montero, Zidane, and possible Didier Deschamps won't play against
Lazio to have them ready for next Wednesday. Carlo Ancelotti will probably
field Juan Eduardo Esnaider next to Inzaghi and Alessio Tacchinardi in the
middle together with Edgar Davids.
Ancelotti confirmed Chtillon as site of Juve's summer camp, which will
last over 5 weeks, instead of the usual 2-3.
