Roberto Carlos' agent will be in Italy, possibly to discuss his client's
future: Juventus and Milan are said to be after the player, together with
Manchester United, whose offer of Lit. 40 billion (� 20 million; $ 24
million) is the opening bid. Real Madrid's president, Lorenzo Sanz, said
that the price for Roberto Carlos is Lit. 100 billion (� 51 million; $ 60
million), but the player's agent said that his client can leave Madrid for
"only" Lit. 27 billion (� 14 mililon; $ 16 million).
Luciano Moggi met with Bologna GM Oreste Cinquini and agreed to let
Jonathan Binotto stay one more year in Bologna.
Moggi said that Alessandro Del Piero will have to be satisfied with a
5-year contract worth Lit. 40 billion (� 20 million; $ 24 million). Del
Piero has 10 days to give his answer. Juve, in case Del Piero leaves, will
focus on Ariel Ortega.
Valencia said that it will sell Claudio Lopez to Juve if the latter helps
the Spanish team obtain Mario Jardel from Porto.
Juventus is said to offer Lit. 10 billion (� 5 million; $ 6 million) for
Dino Baggio.
If Dino arrives, Juve might accept Athletic Bilbao's offer of Lit. 6
billion (� 3 million; $ 3.6 million) for Didier Deschamps. Deschamps will
receive a 3-year contract worth Lit. 3 billion per season (� 1.5 million; $
1.8 million).
